Wow, what a wonderful poem Ree. I'm glad you were able to share it with her. Thank you for sharing it with me. I'm so sorry for your loss. Cancer is a hateful thing. And I 2nd your wish that everyone should quit smoking. It takes too many nice people. -Dennis-

Always sad to hear of the passing of a loved one, Cancer is such an incidious condition, but having a sister in law like you, my dear Ree is surely one of her life's blessings. Your tribute in poetry speaks volumes about the love you carried for her and the very idea of your involvement with her on the level of love you shared is enormous! I feel blessed to know you "Dear Friend"!

Beautiful poem Ree. I'm very sorry for your loss and will keep you and your family in my prayers. About a year and a half ago I lost my step-father to lung cancer. He fought with all he had, but what a nasty disease. I'm with you Ree... please all you smokers think about those who love you most.

Ree, Of course, my sympathy goes out to you and all she loved...this hits hard, as Gil and I are a week away from our 35th Anniversary.........I guess we are very fortunate to have each other still. Your poem is so touching. I know my parents planned to 'walk into the sunset hand in hand"..........sadly, as you said, God often has other plans........ As for the smoking, you're right.....we're really risking our lives. Perhaps our death certificates should say we died of suicide, coz we really are killing ourselves. I've been cutting down for a long time, but never stopping altogether. Today, after reading that, I think I'll just break those nasty things up and throw them away. Thank you for the eye opener, Ree, and ,again, to all who have lost Doreen, my deepest sympathies. Cathi

Hey all thanks for the great thread full of support, sympathy and love I thank you after several days of sadness for our family, while we were waiting for her Mom to come from Nevada... my brother to arrive from Texas etc. So finally she is in her burrial place so close to our family home that Kevin, Stacey and Patrick can walk to it. I have to share with you something that happened after the conclusion of the ceremony at the cemetery. There are some beautiful flowering baby trees around the place where Doreen is burried and they were in full bloom and absolutely gorgeous. Well, after the Deacon said his final prayer and the undertaker announced the conclusion of Doreen's funeral services, the wind blew and we were actually completely snowed on by the flower petals... it was amazing almost as if it was planned. It was another gift for me and a sign that there is something after this life... I have no doubt that the powers that be had something to do with that beautiful display. You should have seen all the men in black suits with little white flower petals all over as well as Doreen's beautiful wooden casket. Love to you all I had no idea I had so many messages here. Today I have a much needed day off to catch up on cleaning, laundry, pulling my hair out (hahaha) etc... Ree
