Title: April fool`s day pranks
Post by Dape on Apr 1st, 2008, 6:34am
My local radio station is trying to convince its listeners that there is a UFO over the local city and it is the most unrealistic April fool`s day prank i have ever heard.

Just wondered if any of you had been caught by a good prank or a really awful one.

Dape  :)

Yep Mother Nature pranked us here in Central WI with a 2-3 inch thick sheet of frozen sleet.  Another 7-8 inches of the white stuff in the Northwoods.  Happy Spring?  Yeah right.

I have a Dentist appointment at 9:30am. I think I should have made it for any other day than April's fool day! [smiley=JAW_DROP.gif]

Well, I haven't seen any good or bad ones yet.

I did feel that my who day at work was one, though; all the customers had everything I was meant to offer and 6 people came to listen to me while I was working.

One of Finnish computing magazine does April Fools prank each year and Timo subscribes that magazine. So it's lots of fun trying to figure out which one of those complitely normal looking product development news is actually April Fools piece.

I called Buddy and told him the IRS froze our bank account.

He laughed out of relief when JD yelled April fools into the phone! His last words to me was "Payback is Hell"

I told Deveny the dog tore up her mattress !

I told JD the dog ate the cat. Then I put a rubber band on the sprayer on the sink. Told him to go wash his hands and face. When he turned on the water, he got it right in the face.

They all fell for it !

In the spirit of public service, beware these April fools:

1. Youth means guile. Sweet-faced, female pre-teens prone to uncontrolled giggling should be approached with extreme caution.

2. Don't trust them when they're older either: Conspiratorial women 35-44 make up 1 out of 10 pranksters. However, ladies 45-54 are more likely to be into verbal wit then short-sheeting.

3. Biggest gathering of April Fools? Depends. Folks most into "april fools day" hail from Wisconsin. However, Pennsylvanians led queries into jokes and pranks. Must be all that pre-primary stress.

One of your  TV companies announced at their website that F1 driver Lewis Hamilton will change his last name into a Finnish one! I had lots of fun with that; especially, because they had picked the new last name to be "Hämäläinen" -  I was already laughing just to the thought how any British sportscaster would try to pronounce that one! ;;D

Last year April 1st landed on a weekend.  I was working around the house and the girls were outside down by the lake.  I grew suspicious when they kept asking when was I going to take a shower..............This is the present they left for me in my bathroom sink.

I did get them back.  I wrapped a rubberband around the kitchen sink sprayer and told them to do the dishes.  They got a soaking when they turned on the water.  ;;D

I fell for two, I'm ashamed to say.

Firstly, this morning on BBC Breakfast News, they had David Attenborough talking about flying penguins with (now I realise, computer-generated) images of them taking off and flying around. I was genuinely amazed!!!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/page/item/epeng001.shtml?src=ip_potpw

Then secondly, free newspaper, the Metro ran an article on cars that could give a dog an electric shock when they pee'd against the tyres. I only believed that one for a moment or two!!

Some good ones I heard today:

  • Welsh radio claiming that the Grand Slam was being taken away from us because our coach is foreign (quite a few believing that this morning)

  • A friend of mine was area manager for Focus (diy store) and for a week they advertised selling tartan paint in a tin - offering discount when it was launched on Monday (no mention of the date!). By lunchtime, they had sold out!! The store had put a lead weight and a £20 gift voucher for the stor in each tin with a nice little note about being an April Fool!!

10 Memorable April Fools' Work Pranks
By Rachel Zupek, CareerBuilder.com writer.

1. Placed a pair of pants and shoes inside the only toilet stall in a men's room to make it appear someone was using the stall. It sat there for hours until someone called security to check if the person had died.

2. Sent a fake love note to a co-worker from another co-worker.

3. All the women in office individually spoke to the president, confiding that she is pregnant. By noon, he 'knew' that all of his female workers were pregnant and he could not tell anyone because each asked for confidentially.

4. Called electric company, used a co-worker's name and told them he was moving so the electricity got turned off at the co-worker's house.

5. Filled the vending soda machine with cans of beer.

6. Rigged the bosses chair to drop suddenly during a staff meeting.

7. Placed a sign on the restroom door that read, "The company ran out of toilet tissue; please use your own resources."

8. Paged a co-worker over the loud speaker claiming the CEO was looking for him.  The worker went into the CEOs office and the CEO didn't know who he was or why he was there.

9. Shrink-wrapped everything in a co-worker's cubicle.

10. Put a 'house for sale' ad in the newspaper regarding a co-worker's home.

This morning, driving in to work, I was listening to "Murphy in the Morning", which I do every day.

Today, they had people calling in to the station regarding Murphy's announcement, complete with audio, stating that Barak Obama had withdrawn from running for President.  :o

OK, now, I'm listening very closely, thinking, "this cannot be true", yet callers are saying this is terrible, they don't know what they are going to do in our primary on May 6, most said they just might not vote at all, many said they would throw their votes to McCain.

Then, I realized what date it was, and realized that Murphy was pulling a 4/1 joke.

Well, from what I heard, most of those callers didn't realize it was a joke.

How many of those callers did not realize it was a joke and will not go to the polls to vote, or, if they do, throw their vote to another candidate?

Not once did I hear Murphy say anything like "April Fools".  So, how many voters did he just disenfranchise by this "joke"

I don't think it was funny at all.

Sandy,
I hope that those people do watch the news occasionally or read a paper, so they'll find out that Obama is still running for president.

Sandy,

I think if some people are dumb enough to believe that, they probably shouldn't vote anyway. ;)

I'm with jimmers, if their sole source of info is "Murphy in the morning"......the gene pool might be better off without their contributions! (With no offense intended to young Murphy of course! ;))

LOL Guiseppi that's why Buddy loves me so much, he never knows what I will come up with. He said he knows he hasn't got any heart problems  because I test it all the time.  ::)

Guiseppi you said you were shaking in your office worried about what your deputies were going to pull on you. Did they get you if so what did they do?
