Title: A Couple Cool Pics From Today!
Post by barry_sword on May 13th, 2008, 7:26pm
The 1st is a tree marked by a bear, right beside a den, and the 2nd is a Moose print, and we saw a lot more prints in the soil today, a Cow and a Calf (Moose) were walking the trails just ahead of us, fresh tracks.

Kinda glad we didn't see either of them! [smiley=eek.gif]

You are so lucky to live where wildlife still roams, we have an abundance of seagulls, thats about it.

We were lucky enough to go to the Flying U ranch in Canada 5 years ago. whilst riding  one of the trails we saw bear prints going one way so we turned the other way and rode stright into a black bear, it was one of the hightlights of my trip along with seeing Humpback whales in Alaska .

This is also where I saw real  life Moose, Beavers, bluebirds and hummingbirds, it is still top of my list of best holidays.  I loved what I saw of Canada and would go back at the drop of a hat if I could.

Nice shots, Barry.   :)

Although I don't like running into black bears at this time of year (they're a tad cranky before they start to fatten up) , I think I'd rather see the bear.  Moose are very powerful animals, and they take offense easily.

Some years ago, there was a bull that hung around one of the back-country lodges I fish out of.

For some reason, he took offense to a rail fence the lodge guys put up to keep the mules in at night.  Every evening, regular as a clock, the bull would come down to the lodge and tear the fence apart.  I guess he just didn't like it.

I believe the lodge folks finally gave it up as a bad idea.  I do know that they never tried to interrupt the bull when he was busy.

Best wishes,

George
