Title: Gotta get this IN my chest
Post by artonio7 on May 14th, 2008, 11:37am
Hello friends... sorry for my absence from posting... I'm never far away... I pray and vibe for you all night and day.

I went to the electrophysiologist at the Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh Pa yesterday... Dr. Bonnett (a cool dude) He wanted to implant the dual lead pacermaker yesterday... But,,, I hadn't made any arrangements for Oscar so I opted for next Wednesday... I can't wait for them to put the thing in... I've always had an attraction to shiny new electronic devices.

The final diagnosis was Mobitz II or AV Heartblock type II... I asked if it was a condition that could be treated with medications only and he did not recommend going that route. (Which is ok by me because I despise taking any type of Medication anyway.. excluding Oxygen @ 15 LPM as needed per CH.)

The device to be implanted sounds snazzy.. it detects body movement and adjusts rhythm according to demand.... it doesn't sound like a complicated procedure and the risks seem fairly limited. They request certain limitations of activities for 4 to six weeks after surgery and I'll never be able to have another MRI again.... but other than that it all seems like a walk in the park compared to CH. (Which by the way have been a real pest lately)

I sooooo look forward to the symptoms going away after the surgery, dizziness, feeling faint, short of breath, and becoming exhausted after very little physical exertion. I'll keep you guys posted and as always you are in my thoughts and prayers.....

with warm regards,
Tony

Prayers and vibes going up for you, Tony!!  I really hope this brings you some symptom relief and that you're back on your feet in no time!!  PF wishes while we're at it!!  Not fair for the beast and the ticker to both be getting you at the same time!!

Hugz,
Carrie :)

P.S. I can't have MRIs anymore either - and we'll both not be able to go through airport security - shall we start a club?  hehe

Good Luck with the procedure, Tony. My grandmother had one put in in her 80's as an outpatient. I know this will make you feel much better. :)

Best of luck, Tony. I don't know anyone who has one, so I can't relate anything personal, but you'll do just fine. Besides, once you have yours, I'll know somebody who has one.

Mine is a dual chamber pacer too and I am so glad to have it.

I too was experiencing near fainting, annoying and frightening rhythms, etc.

Mobitz II in itself it not a deadly rhythm, but can lead to other serious rhythms.  You'll be so relieved when you get it implanted.

The new pacers can do amazing things.

The proceedure is a breeze.  You'll probably have something like Versed and be numbly awake ;;D.  It's done before you can blink 2,790 times.

Hugs and prayers,
Donna

Thank you all... you do my heart better than any, shiny new thingamahicky ever could.

The up side is that Carrie and I as well as Donna and Eddie all get to be hand searched at the airport. Yippee Skippee... now if we can only just get to choose the person doing the searching.  ::)

Tony

Take it easy for as long as they say.  It sounds like you are really comfortable with it, so that is good.

Let us know how all is going.

That's sure the truth!  Jim (Alchemy) is in our little group here too as he has a ONSI, as well.  Just this past time through the airport last weekend I got pulled out for a special security screen, and this was even before the stimulator!  I must look suspicious.... ;)

Best of luck!
Carrie :)
