Title: Vibes/Prayers PLEASE (update) Post by BlueMeanie on May 15th, 2008, 6:08pm Cindy and I admitted our son in the hospital yesterday and there is a 99% chance that he has cancer. There is a 5" diameter tumor on his left lung. The tumor caused pneumonia which they are treating with antibiotics which has helped the pneumonia to subside. It's going to be a long wait for the biobsy results to see what type it is. The cancer doctor said the type Lance Armstrong had is the easiest to cure so we are hoping at worse case that that's the type we will be dealing with. We are just totally devestated and can't believe it's true as he is only 24 years old. We have family support here with us at this time. Even though the doc says it would take a small miracle to not be cancer, we are not giving up and asking for vibes/prayers if you don't mind sending them his way. We found out today that the cancer is lymphoma. My son Dave is totally devestated and wants some time alone. We will be heading back to the hospital in a little while. Cindy and I want to thank all deeply for your love and support. Some of your know Raye, my sister, she is her with me, as always, and says thank you too. |

Please let us know regularily how your son and family are doing. The best time to seek a support group is right now. I know you have us and you know we'll be here for you all, but you also need people who have or are going through what you are now. Your doctors office staff most probably has all kinds of information for you to help you find a group that's right for you. Praying for a miracle....there's still that 1% out of the 99 that your doc mentioned, also. |

I do, however, want to remind you of something. cancer has come a long way. Many forms are cureable...and each day, scientists come up with more options. canceris no longer a death sentence. My mother survived breast cancer 23 years! Cancer never did take her life. Get good doctors, keep a positive attitude and lean on your friends in Clusterville when things get tough. You know you got all the prayers, vibes, mojo, voodoo and whatever else we got. You also know attitude is everything. People with good attitudes and positive outlooks seem to beat cancer even when doctors say it's not possible. Give him time to get his head around it and then kick him in the ass if necessary to jump start that "I'm going to beat this" attitude. Mike |

Luckily they've held off on the chemo for now. Instead he may have to go to Chicago hospital for surgery today to remove the thimus gland in his neck and then use radiation on the tumor nex to the liver. It will take a few days for the results so we're hoping to have a treatment plan by Friday. Right now they're leaning toward chemo & radiation to shrink the tumor, than surgery after that.
