Title: My Judy gets a chemical stress test and  Echo
Post by DonnaH_again on May 17th, 2008, 10:52pm
this coming Tuesday.  Finally!  This is her cardiac clearance for the surgery.

Did I tell you that her surgery is now scheduled to be done in two parts?

The first will be to place the rod anchors and repair the three herniated discs.  This will take about 4 hours, give or take.  She'll stay in the hospital for 2 or 3 days, then come home for 2 weeks.

Next, she goes back for the rod placement, bone grafts, etc.  They'll most likely use pieces of her ribs for that, or cadaver.  This surgery will take about 10 hours.

Then she goes into a rehab facility for roughly 6 weeks, and then she's home for good.  Amen.

Her daughter had the same surgery (as a young teen ager), minus the disc problems.......just scoliosis.  She healed very quickly and was a cheer leader a year later.
Age was on her side.

Judy's recouperation will be lengthy.

The doc said that if I had that same surgery, I wouldn't make it at my age.

Requesting prayers for the pain that driving over an hour to the facility and for laying down and being turned in different directions will cause during the stress test.

She can't even GET into a car any more.

Thanks

Lisa had a 16 yr old friend on her swim team that had the surgery. She grew 2 inches and was back to doing flip turns within 6 months. Oh the benefits of youth! My prayers and best wishes are coming to you for a quick, speedy recovery for Judy!!

Hoping for all the best for Judy.  It sounds as if it will be very hard--but the rewards could be very great.

Please keep us updated on her progress.  She's a courageous person.

I'm praying for all to go well for Judy!

Please let us know how everything turns out!  I'm hoping that she's all cleared for the surgery!

Is there a date for the first part of the surgery yet?

Hugz,
Carrie :)

Stress echo is nothing.  I'd like to hear her take on the adenosine infusion (chemical stress) when all is said and done.

Best wishes to her and Donna.  Praying it is super successful.

Well, crap, crap, crap!!

The docs office made a little mistake.  Her appointment tomorrow is for a "consultation".  Funny tho, the PA in his office scheduled the tests for the 20th at 8:40 am.

Just another set-back.  Damn.  We'll find out tomorrow when the tests are.

Her GP upped her Fentanyl  patch again and she's still on 10mg. Oxycodone every 4-6 hours, plus Flexoril for muscle spasms, and Ibuprophine and Tylenol.

She told me that she can't take much more.  I have to keep sounding positive and encouraging for her.  I keep telling her that she's within reach of some relief.  When they do the first surgery, they'll work on the discs which should help quite a bit......then there's another setback.

Sorry for carrying on like this.

I think your prayers are what's holding her upright.

Oh Donna I feel for you and her.

Please tell her to re-read all of our letters to her if she is able and make certain she knows that all of us are with her in spirit.

Damn!  I hate it when one of our kids are hurting.  Mine, yours...it don't matter.
