I thought maybe we can introduce ourselves and offer some tips - I certainly would love some help on perspectives and working with dim lighting!   I'm a newbie photographer and just recently bought a Sony a350 DSLR. It came with two lenses - 18-55mm and 55-200mm. I think it's a great camera and very user-friendly, plus it is compatible with A-mount Minolta lenses [as Sony bought Minolta].   Last week, I also bought a Minolta 50mm 1.7f lens for a bargain because the pawn shop had no idea about equipment   Anyways, if anyone wants to see some photos, they are on my website: cissi.id.au. I'm planning on revamping the site very soon, once I find some time.   I also took some photos of a local music event called In The Pines and the photos are on the organiser's gallery.   Looking forward to seeing other people's galleries! I also have a very good friend who has been kindly teaching me some of the nuances of photography [such as depth of field] but it's all about practical experience.   @aloneuk: How do you like the Finepix? Am also envious that you have a fisheye lens. That's next on my list, and then a 100m macro. I think a fisheye lens would be very interesting for live band photography.   I love doing macro work; it makes me aware of aspects of an object that I would otherwise never have noticed.   @vig: I really like the detail on the rock in the foreground - it's very striking and vivid. I also like how you captured the contrast between the whiteness of the rock and the darker background.   How are Olympus cameras? I had considered getting one when I was researching my options. deltadarlin CH.com Alumnus New Board Hall of Famer I love YaBB 1G - SP1!     Gender: Posts: 1485 Re: CH Photographer's Club? « Reply #12 on: Apr 30th, 2008, 8:33am » Quote Modify As always, I am fashionably late  .  Vig, I just love your foot!  I've tried to take a pic of my foot, but I just can't get it to cooperate.   Folks, it doesn't mattter what you shoot, who you shoot or how you shoot, what matters is that you are enjoying yourself when you do.   I don't do portraits, don't like shooting portraits.  I'm more of a nature/event photographer.   I shoot with a Canon DSLR 350D (wouldn't mind having the new 450 D, but that's not in my budget right now, would prefer new lends anyway).  Besides the lens that came with the camera (18-55 mm), have a 50 mm macro and 75-300 telephoto/zoom, plus flash and assorted geegaws that I use.   The whole family uses nothing but Canon, what can I say   (daughter inherited my old 300D and Jimbo has a P&S that he's having a blast with).   If you don't have a decent photoshop program, Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 is really good for the price, costs about $100.00. The live view is fairly disappointing and I didn't find it ergonomic.   I like the Canon EOS40D; I've used one occasionally at work and is a great camera.
