I have a question about my blood pressure, I had an attack this morning, since I was close to the plants fire department I went there for o2. They freaked out, my blood pressure was 330 over 190. They refused to let me leave and took me to the ER. By this time the HA was gone and the DR didn't believe them it was that high. He said I'd be dead with an annurism, if it was that high. Uh..... thats kinda scary. Thats twice its been that high, do I need to see a specialist or what.

Matt - I've never heard of anybody's blood pressure going that high. Did the measuring device even go that high?

hhhmmm That does sound incredibly high... look up "Juxtaglomerular apparatus" on wikipedia.
Was the BP taken before, during, or after o2 therapy? I've often wondered if the vasoconstriction would elevate one's BP.
Keep us posted/// do you have a BP device of your own and are you currently taking meds for hypertension?

I'd def follow that up with a specialist. Best not to take chances.
I have a bp device at home and have taken mine right after a hit but never during. It is elevated but nothing like those numbers. 210/160 is the highest I've seen. Of course if you had it taken during the hit it could be higher than my numbers.

They took it 5 times. When the first guy took it 3 times and it went up, he called the captain, he took it twice. This is within the first 15 min of the hit. With the o2 it never got above a 7 which is a little confusing. It was still above 250 when I got to the ER, but was at 190 when I left. These guys aren't amateurs, they are off duty firemen and paramedics that contract with the army.

According to the directions I have about BP, the ideal numbers should be 120/80, but 130/85 is still considered to be normal.
I come from a family in which BP issues are closely followed; several relatives on mom's side have BP medication of some kind. When mom was still working, she checked her BP regularly at work and her office nurse even borrowed her the equiptment to check her BP at home. Now mom bought a set of her own, so I can check mine each time I visit her.
Back in here when one nurse took my BP back in 2000 (when I had no idea about what ch is) it was 110/88, which is the highest number mine has ever been and she and my mom both were concerned. Since then my problem has been low BP... Once when I was close to fainting(thanks to ch meds), I checked my BP and it was 55/something.

You may want to talk to your doctor about getting some Verapamil. Helps for many with Clusters and also lowers blood pressure. If fact, after my cluster bout was over, my Neuro told me to stay on a lower dose as my blood pressure was better.

Daniels BP during a hit was around 280/160, dropping down to normal ( normal for him ) 145/90 20 mins after the hit. This was before verapamil.
Full cardio work out was fine, except for borderline hypertension. His risk for stroke was considered low as he was young and fit, no vessels disease. The spec advised to have regular BP check, blood test for cholesterol and to stop smoking ( yeah sure, like thats gonna happen ! ).
After Verapamil was given, his BP only went up to 180/110 during a hit. The spec was not concerned at that level as it always went back to normal fairly quickly after a hit. However, he has to stay on Verapamil even when out of cycle.
Matt, you should get a full medical, including cardio work up, to assess the risk and maybe considering taking verapamil or other BP meds to reduce the BP. One problem is if your BP is not high normally, BP meds may drop it too low causing dizzyness.
Talk to your doc and weigh the pros and cons.

I was on verap for about 5 years during my cycles, they never did anything for the ch but at higher doses it gave me heart problems, and I had no energy and my concentration isn't always what it should be even at lower doses. For me that could cause some bad problems. I quit taking it about 5 or 6 months ago but was never given a replacement med. Pred has been my savior for the last few cycles, I'll get a couple HA and go in for a shot. That almost knocks them out, I still get a few break throughs but nothing like they would be otherwise. I may have 3 or 4 hits that average a 6 or 7 a week compared to 3 to 5 a day with at least two being 8s. I know its not good for my bones but I cringe at the alternative.
My GP didn't seem to concerned about my BP, but the paramedics sure were, and the ER Dr kept telling them that it was impossible for me to be walking around with it that high. Hell all I wanted was 15 min of O2. Anyway thanks for the comments. I'll bring it up with my doc on my next visit.
