Title: WHATS IN YOUR ATTACK PACK ?????
Post by tessa_c2 on Mar 2nd, 2006, 2:35pm
at walmart i found these ice packs made like a sleep mask.  it gives me comfort 2 ways, it  helps to block out the light and  the ice pack is good.

bath and body works has a aroma therapy line that has a headache releif kit. ($17.50) it doesnt by far touch the pain, but its something soothing.
it contains:

peppermint and menthol massage creame ( i like to rub  it in my hand and smell it, or if im rubbing my forehead so hard the skin wants to come off it haves aloe vera in it to help it slide so i wont mark my face.

a small bottle of peppermint temper rub (i usually just hold it and smell it)

a cooling disposable peppermint eye mask  and a pack of peppermint tea thats really good hot.

you know its always nice to smell something soothing while you are in pain.  even though you really arnt thinking about it,  at the time.

I always keep a Pocket Triptan handy, 24/7/365.

O2's never more than a few feet away, either.

Tanks around the house and in both of our cars.

Trex Jabs & Zyprexa around as well (though I don't use them) just in case I am ever desperate and need to use.

Disposable icepacks

Ditto to what Hap said, plus a six pack ;;D

Oh yeah, in my truck I have a dozen of the bags that you smash and they become ice cold in seconds.

o2 in the house and car, RC seeds for sput's in my handbag for dire emergencies and... I'm still carrying triptans although I haven't used any in over six months now. It's just good to know they're there if I'm desperate (and I'd have to be REALLY desperate!)

as far as meds i use imitrex and just started on verapamil.  i did use zomig, but when i started using the stat dose i stopped.  i just tried experimenting with things non-phar things.  you know as a "coping mechanism"

never tried the red bull during an attack, just as a drink.  there is a bar around here that has it on tap.  i might take my thermost there.   ;;D

Believe it or not, I keep IcyHot handy, because of the smell, and because I always get a muscle tension HA when CH kicks in.

I also have a pepermint oil. Keep a Red Bull handy, try to find a hot shower as soon as I get hit

I always wear one of those butt packs loaded with a copy of the script for the trex, a copy of the script for the oxygen, a copy of my diagnosis of CH and a hardshell eyeglasses case with 5 or 6 syringes loaded with 1/2 dose of trex, several alcohol wipes and an extra vial of trex.

I am sorry, but this is a website for cluster headache sufferers.  Perhaps try the Google search above for "Migraine Support Groups".

Have a good day!

I've been PF since April 2005, but I still have Maxalt Rabitabs for the pain, verapamil 200mgs and Imitrex in my house. I have maxalts in my every bag just in case. :)
And I always have icecubes on my freezer.

Better safe than sorry! Besides, I think that as long as I have the meds with me the beast will stay away... ;)

Best wishes,
Sanna

I've been cycle free since 2002 and trex is still like an extra appendage.

"Butorphanol NS" I keep any extra the doc will prescribe for the next round. The stuff seems to keep forever, especially if kept in the fridge.

Maxalt-definately always with me.

Verapamil-large bottle in medicine cabinet for next round.

(Oxygen - caused immediate rebound attacks in my case-couldn't manage to breath it all day long, every day!)
