Title: Question about rationing Relpax...
Post by bella_lunatic on Mar 6th, 2006, 3:27pm
I have had really good luck with Relpax if I catch the hit early enough.  But recently I was limited to only 12 pills a month, and am now down to 4 pills to last the rest of the month.  I was wondering if anyone knows if I can split the pill in half.

Also, I know that some drugs will lose effectiveness when taken out of their packaging, and am wondering if Relpax is dispensed in the blister pack for "convenience" or if it shouldn't be exposed until it is being used.

I hope someone can help.  I have to strecth this out someway.

If I remember right, Relpax comes in 20 or 40mg pills.  I started with the 20mg, and was quartering the pills.  Eventually, I worked my way up to the full 40 mg, and they still didn't work.  Body just built up a tolerance to the drug.

When filling the prescription it would sometimes come in the blister pack, and then sometimes just loose in a bottle, so I don't think that would make any difference in the effectiveness of the pill.

Hope this helps,
Rox

blister packs are used to curb tampering, and also makes it easier to count.

Thanks Roxy and Lance!  I am now off to break into them and split them up.  Hope it isn't a complete waste of time!  Oh well, it gives me an excuse not to do my housework.  You think I could stretch it out to a couple of hours.  ;;D
