Title: Injection site reaction
Post by unsolved1 on Mar 19th, 2006, 12:35pm
I took an Imitrex injection @ 6 am this morn, danced for awhile and went back to bed only to wake with another HUGE hit. I took my 2nd injection and for the first time, had a nasty skin reaction @ the injection site. It's about 3" across, puffed up and white. I have my docs emergency # just incase, but it seems to be slowly going down. Anyone ever had this happen? What the hell is going on? I've taken thousands of injections and never had this happen before.

Any input appreciated

Dirty needle maybe?? Do you do the trex tip??

No, it was a clean, brand new stat dose injection. I personally don't re-use needles.

BTW, it looks fine now. No marks and no pain. It only lasted about 45 minutes.

I'm not being a smartass, Michael. Really.
However, my first thought was... his body's way of saying "NO MORE TREX!!!".
Sorry, I know it works for you, and not much else does... but I worry about "thousands of injections."  :-/
I'm glad it looks better.

This is just a guess Michael, but maybe it was a localized skin reaction - meaning the Trex didn't get into the subq tissue.  The fact that it went away after a fairly short time might mean it took awhile to get absorbed.  Perhaps a slightly faulty and shortened needle?

Just a thought - glad it got better quickly.

Thanks for your concern Nani. I'm fine now and won't hesitate to use more if (when) needed.

I think I pressed too hard, hitting a vein. Blood trickled all the way down my arm as soon as the needle came out. The KIP 8 went away in less than 5 minutes.  ;)

During a cycle when I get hit up to 8 times a day, I don't always check through the haze for a new spot to inject.  I hit veins frequently, some bleeding and sometimes have a lump where I injected but like yours it soon disappears.

I always say the needle is too thin to do any permanent damage.  Love to think some part of me is holy ;;D

UN,

This happens to me almost with every injection.  As with yours, it goes away pretty quickly.  But by the end of my cycle, my thighs look like Mr. T has been using them for a punching bag!   :o

Good luck,
Mia
