Has anyone tried nerve blocking?

I am going to go through a surgery next week. It consists of blocking a facial nerve. Doctor says he has made several like this one and has found that 3 out of 5 patients get complete relief (ie no more CH episodes). Has anyone heard/tried this procedure? Thanks

I have never had the "Block" you are asking about...but had Nerve Blocks of the Cervical, Lumbar, & Occipital nerve for reasons other then CH.

But from what I recall on this ...STAY AWAY from this procedure. All you get is a semi-numb face with Clusters.

Hopefully someone who has gone through the procedure can give you more insight.

Anyone???

Since you don't say what "surgery" to "block" the nerves here's some info from the archives I'd like you to read first. Then decide if you really want it.

I agree with Hound_Dogg. 3 out of 5 is not very good odds. There is a very good chance that you'll outgrow your clusters but you'll never outgrow a sagging, numb face. But, that is only my opinion.

I've had nerve blocks....
Unlike a gamma knife (which it doesn's sound like you're having), the nerve block is where they go in with a needle and inject anesthetic along the nerve.

I had one in the front and two in the back.  They lasted about 2 weeks for me and then back to regular headaches.
