OXYGENE TREATMENT

Hi there friends
A nurse in the emergency room told me something new about using oxygen, or at least it is new information to me. She said that when you use oxygen, you should wait at least 30 minutes before you smoke a cigarette. By smoking a cigarette right after you shut off the O2, like I normally do, you cut down the effectiveness of the oxygen.
Now I am not sure what this means to us clusterheads, but it is something to try. It might keep down the rebounds that some of you speak of, or it might keep you from getting another hit too soon. It may even help to cut down on the severity of future hits. I don't know for sure, but I, for one, am going to try it and see what happens.
Just some new information to pass on to all of you.

Sounds logical to my ears.
In cigarette smoke there's carbonmonoxide, and this is a competative substance to oxygen, that is, they "hook on" on the same receptor. Carbonmonoxide hooks on easier on the receiver (hemoglobine) then the oxygen does, SO if there's any carbonmonoxide around, like when you're smoking a cigarette, it will chase away the oxygen, therefore reducing the effect.
You could try a nicotine pill instead of a real cigarettte.....

Not sure about that, but the reason you wait before smoking is because O2 saturation in clothes, bed sheets, etc. will cause them to catch on fire easier than the norm.

That too ....
In that case the other thing would not bother you anymore .... 
A lung doctor told us about the carbonmonoxide easily "chasing out" the O2. When you have carbonmonoxide poisening (example: very heavy smokers or people who have been in a fire with lots of smoke) they give you O2 too, but you have to be on it quite long , because of this "stickyness" of carbonmonoxide to the hemoglobine. That's what he said. So a heavy smoker will probably need to be on oxygen longer then a none smoker to get the same effect.

Yep there are a few of us that have to spend our money on other things. But even after almost 8 years of not smoking I still jones for a smoke at times. It is rather sad.  you would think that I would be smarter then that.
