Title: Zonegran VS. Topamax

For those who have taken Zonegran and Topamax, did you really experience less s/e's with Zonegran? I'm particularly interested in the cognitive dulling aspects. Thanks.

Dopymax vs the other?

Just read up on the Zonegran.  If you allergic to sulfa medications it's probably a good idea to not take it.  Just a forewarning.

I definitely experienced less side effects with the zonegran vs. topamax.  However I had to discontinue taking it because of a multiple drug interaction that led to a suspected stroke/TIA.

I found it was fairly effective for the first couple of months and lost it's effectiveness and I was unable to increase the dosage.

I could not tolerate the s/e of dopeymax.

I'm still on Zonegran and have virtually no side effects.  The first couple of weeks I was sleepy but after that things returned back to normal.

Zonegran is the best prevent rx I have found.

This is what I don't understand. How is it that Zonegran is a sulpha drug and Topamax is NOT? I thought they were almost identical????
