Verapamil and losing the "Urge"

This is embarassing... but... has anybody else "lost the urge"?  I know the med lowers your blood pressure... but is it supposed to lower the sex drive also?  I'm supposed to be on this med for the next 4 months and my wife is already complaining that I can't keep the little general at attention. Undecided.  Has anyone gotten a prescription for Viagra?

Help!!!

I noticed it definately decreases the blood flow to certain areas. Tends to make Elvis shrink up a little. But when Elvis hits the stage, Look out cause he's a HUNK A BURNIN LOVE!!And his stage performance is a little longer than usual, and what woman doesn't like a prolonged concert. Thank you very much!

I've heard of Verapamil doing this, and Viagra seems to be the drug that comes to the rescue...at least until you're off the med.

Let's see:  From:

http://www.drugdigest.org/DD/DVH/Uses/0,3915,701|Verapamil,00.html

What side effects may I notice from taking verapamil?

Side effects that you should report to your prescriber or health care professional as soon as possible:
More common:
•dizziness
•slow heartbeat (less than 50 beats per minute)
•lightheadedness
•swelling of the legs or ankles
Rare or uncommon:
•difficulty breathing
•fast heartbeat, palpitations, irregular heartbeat, chest pain, or
•fainting
•skin rash

Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your prescriber or health care professional if they continue or are bothersome):
•constipation
•facial flushing
•headache
•nausea, vomiting
•sexual dysfunction
•weakness or tiredness

Yup!  Hell, CH in general did that to me when I was having up to 8 attacks per day.  Now I'm down to 3 - 5 hits per day and, not taking Verapamil (it didn't work for me), things are...uh...looking up.

Seriously, it's not unusual for that to happen.  It's just a side effect of the medication.  It's important for you to make sure she realizes it's not a lack of interest on your part.  Talk to your wife.  If you or she is uneasy talking about it face to face, try turning off the lights and talking in bed in the dark.  Discuss what the two of you can do to make sex more enjoyable for both of you.  Longer sessions of foreplay and maybe integrating alternate means of stimulation may boost her satisfaction and help allieviate some of the guilt you might be feeling.  Communication is key - talk to your wife.

I have never used viagra.  You may want to check for interactions with the meds you are taking before trying it.

Good luck,

Gator

BP meds are BP meds . . .they lower blood pressure . . .and an erection is just localized high blood pressure . . .
On the Viagra issue, be careful, it can cause h/as . . .Cialis isn't supposed to cause h/as (and it has a larger window of opportunity), but it isn't right for everyone . . .ask your doc?
