Hello, I'm the new guy on the block to this site. So bear with me.  My name is Scott, age 35, and been getting my ___ kicked by cluster headaches, since I was 18.  My longest stretch without any was 7 months. But lucky me, I started another cycle about 2 weeks ago.  So I will have about 2 to 3 more months to go before they go away again. Anyway, I've been taking relpax, prescribed by a neurologist. I have pretty good luck with it. ( other than the battle with the insurance company allowing more than 6 pills per month, apparently they don't realize these things happen every damn day.)  But I was curious if any of you have had success with this drug.  Let me know. Looking forward to visiting with anyone that wants to chat.  Until later.

Hi Scott.  Welcome to our little corner of the web.  Lots of us have tried Relpax with varying degrees of success or the lack thereof.  Try doing a search for Relpax.  You'll find lots of opinions.

For me, it made me feel like 10 pounds of shit in a five pound bag - worse than Imitrex pills.  Imitrex injections, Zomig Nasal Spray (never mix triptans within at least a 24 hour period) and Oxygen (15lpm via non-rebreathing mask for up to 20 minutes) work wonders.

If you haven't tried O2, give it a go.  It works for most people who try it and use it correctly.

Here are some links to print out and read and take a copy to your doctor:

This is a paper justifying the use of high flow rates for oxygen.

Again, welcome to the website.  This is absolutely the best place on the web for information and support if you have Cluster Headaches.

There is also a site you might want to check out with some alternative methods that have helped many.

Hi Scott,

When I first started with my HAs, my doc gave me some Relpax. It worked for a short period of time then never worked again. And when it did work I had to catch the HA quick. If I took it in the middle of an attack it wouldn't work. Look in to preventatives etc. It has taken a long time to find me a cocktail that helps, but I finally did. And I am fortunate, many never do. I still have some HA and shadows. Anyways good luck and best wishes!

Hi Scott,

been taking Relpax for two years now, works 80% for me, but takes 30-40 mins. That's about half my averge hit-time, so it's ok.

For pain-killing oxygen is the best I've had so far.
