Unsolved,

Xylocaine with EPI used at the dentist has triggered me hard and others have reported this also. I now request Prilocaine (Citanest) without EPI when at the dentist.........this hasn't caused me a problem. That is if your talking about local anesthetics.

I can't say for sure if it was from the anesthesia or the surgery itself, but I did wake up from my sinus surgery this past March in hysterics from the headache pain it gave me.  It hurt sooooo incredibly badly.  Then I threw up for hours on end.

I don't think it caused a CH, but it caused a really really bad headache.  I ended up having to be admitted overnight between the vomiting and the pain.  What a mess!

Both of the sinus surgeries involved intranasal cocaine.  Could have certainly done without that, IMHO.  I do think that caused a lot of problems for me.

Best of luck!  What type of surgery???  Hugz!!!!!!!!

I would bring my mask and ask the doc to have high-flow 02 available just in case.

There may be a problem with trex if the surgery is arterial. Let's assume it's a vascular surgeon repairing an artery. The surgeon performs the micro-surgery on the artery. The REM sleep as you're waking up from the general anesthesia triggers a CH. You jab some trex. The trex is a powerful vasoconstrictor that quickly constricts the artery and breaks the micro-surgery on the artery before it has a chance to heal.

Just a theory, but I would definately ask the doc about this...

Good luck,
BB

I have some absessed (sp) teeth in the back that are going to be cut out. They are going to put me to sleep. I had one tooth cut out a few years back with no problems, but when I had kidney stones and had lithotripsey (sp), I woke to a nasty cluster attack. I'm not sure if what they use is different or not. O2 won't work for me so i'm taking the Trex injection just incase.

This is gonna hurt  Undecided

SURE it's gonna hurt. Your breath is gonna smell like Jurassic Park for a few. Four days of a yogurt/oatmeal diet will have you clearing the room with one little "poot."
BUT.....see that comment above:  Xylocaine with EPI
There's something they add to a local that can trigger a special moment. Make sure they don't include that in your shot (whatever it may be.) You'll be just fine. Still ugly, but just fine.

Keep that trex handy, no matter what they tell you.
