Get high on O2?
« on: Nov 24th, 2005, 1:06am »
Quote Quote Modify Modify

Several non-clusterhead people i have talked to tell me that Oxygen at a high flow rate will make you high.  It will give you slurred speech, slowed reflexes, bad coordination....the whole 9 yards.
I have never felt any of these things when sucking O2 at 15lpm.  Has anyone here?

People make it sound like I'm carting around a tank of NO2 or something doing whip-its for a good buzz, but i've never felt anything like it.

Think about it for a minute.

Military aviators in high performance aircraft use high flow 100% oxygen, delivered via a non-rebreather mask for hours at a time. There's NO, repeat NO, evidence of them getting "high" from the gas that keeps them alive at altitude. The guys who flew the SR-71 Blackbird, pre-breathed 100% oxygen for up to an hour before they evergot into the airplane. They flew high but not "high."

Please don't believe everything you hear and only half of what you read.

Hey

nobody misunderstand me.

Oxygen is the one Drug if you will that seems to be of the most benefit to a vast majority of the cluster population

I happen to be in the minority so I just have to stick out my tonque at you all once in a while.

Its a simple and effective treatment and If someone reads this thread that hasnt yet tried it then Listen to those OXYHEADS.

I still think they are high though.

Squanto gives the most compelling evidence. Never got high on O2.......just relief.

But I've heard this before about O2 and getting a buzz.......go figure.

At the risk of high-jacking this thread...

The terms "buzz" and "high" are very subjective. What I might think is a "buzz" or "high" might be an everyday sensation to some folks. (see my adverse reaction to tripping)

But... I've wonderied if some (for sure not all) of the effects of breathing 100% O2 via mask, some folks report, might be the physiologic effects of hyperventilating (breathing deeply and more often than the usual 12-14 times a minute.) Tingling fingers, light headedness, and so forth. And in extreme cases  neuro-muscular efffects of disturbance of calcium metabolisn.  These are known effects of lowering the body's carbon dioxide (CO2) burden and shifting the body's pH balance (see the thread on pH)

I've tried breathing through the Clustmasx without the O2 tank connected. And it didn't do squat for my headache.  But neither do I get noticable hyperventilation effects with or without the O2 flowing either.  But I do thnk I tend to hyperventilate somewhat when I'm trying to get HA relief from the O2..

Just wondering and wasting time while I wait for the seeds to kick in.

Hijack away Sqaunto, nobody else was using it.

I have had many of those same thoughts as you.

Though oxygen doesnt work for me I do the rapid breathing with excersise wich does seem to help.

How many seeds and how prepared?

Hoping it works for you. Post it in your thread. I ,like you, find comfort in your misery.

squanto, yes, i get tingly too cause i hyperventilate.  Even when i have the O2, i still hyperventilate, but if i do not have the O2 with me, i really breathe hard, and my lips get all hard to move and cant talk and stuff.
