Title: Holistic Helps???
Post by erickthered on Feb 1st, 2005, 8:18am
Hi again, just got off a nice long dance at work (my longest yet, almost a hour) and got to think, has anyone heard of any holistic therapys for CH. I'm Wiccan and would rather try something from Mother nature, before I cave into the manufactured drugs from science. I have noticed ever sence I started wearing an amber necklace, the pains are not quite as on schedule as they have been, so now I dont know when to expect them  :'(.

Any way I was just wondering.

The best mother nature has to offer can be found at
www.clusterbusters.com
Your not alone in staying away from the prescribed meds. but scents. bangles, needles and massages will usually only empty you wallet.

Also consider:

Oxygen - 100% high rate of flow, non-rebreather mask.

Melatonin - helpful to many, may be natural depending on your perspective and geography.

Magnesium - intravenous can shut off the headaches, oral magnesium not tested, but innexpensive and safe for most people if done in moderation.

Taurine - 'amino acid' - natural calcium channel blocker.

B-vitamins, green tea, turmeric/curcumin.

Lithium is a naturally occuring element, and lithium carbonate is available by prescription.  Many people benefit from that, most commonly prescribed to chronics.

I hope you'll find something which works for you... :)

My experience about magnesium:
I get 620mg of magnesium with the vitamin pills I take daily. Once I started taking magnesium pills, taking one aborted CH. When I run out of magnesium pills, I got horrible CHs. I have not taken that chance since... As a chronic I get them often enough anyway.

What makes CH especially hard is that what works for one, does not work on other...

Good luck with your dance!

Best wishes & PFdays,
Sandie
