Title: Some possible relief from the beast.
Post by iwannabeer on Feb 27th, 2005, 6:40am
Hello all! I am a newbie to your site, glad I found it!
My quack prescribed at least a dozen things to help with my CH's and none of them seemed to do anything. He now has me taking CARBATROL 300mg, an epilepsy medicine. It takes it 3 or 4 days to get into your system, but once it kicked in, my CH's were still there, but virtually pain free. I still have them, but they don't hurt, if that makes sense. I mean, your left eye still tries to close, you still feel some pressure but it no longer feels like someone is chewing on the left side of your brain. Some day's I don't have any at all, but alcohol will still trigger an attack, a full blown one. If any of you have had experience with this drug, let me know. I am still in a cycle, since mid December, hoping remission is just around the corner.........

Welcome to the board iwannabeer. The painless attacks you talk about are called phantom clusters. They are real attacks just without the pain.

CARBATROL is a med I've never heard of so I can't comment on it.

Alcohol is a trigger for most clusterheads. Sorry you wannabeer but you'll just have to wait until the cycle is over.

I like your little icon man's attitude.

Drive it like it's rented!

Accelerate 'til you see God. Then brake.
:o

"Commonly reported side effects include drowsiness, headache, dizziness, blurred vision, difficulty in thinking, diarrhea, double vision, nausea and vomiting. Rare effects include allergic skin rashes (in about 10 percent of patients). Some skin rashes may be severe."
