OK, just upped the dose of the Verap and I'm unable to go number 2. Almost thought I was gonna have to go to the ER last night b/c I could barely walk. Any thoughts?

I've had the same problem before and for someone who likes to stay "regular" it sucks.
Get some fiber in your life...lot's and lot's of fiber!
Try some Metamucil or something similar...don't worry, it'll all work out ;)

Take some magnesium suppliments.

It's not only good for the pooper but for your head ;)

Yes, magnesium, fiber, and a lot of water. It happens to the best of us. ;) Hope you feel better soon, KD.

Big dose of MOM (milk of magnesia). I have the problem when I get to 360mg or above. After a week or so, things return to semi-normal.

If it's been more than 3 or 4 days, it's time to tell your doctor. They can prescribe some industrial strength cleaner. Otherwise it's like trying to pass the Rock of Gibralter!

My husband's doctor said this was a side-affect. She said it would be okay to use a laxative like Senocot every once in awhile to get things moving again.

2 bowls of frosted mini wheats and magnesium. Sometimes that helps, correctal for back up.

Man, they ought to include a coupon for free Metamucil with every Verapamil script 480mg and over! I take Verap daily for my blood pressure and as a year-round CH preventitive. My last cycle I had to ramp up the Verap to 720mg/day and I also had to pass "the Rock of Gibralter" after a few days ... I almost went to the ER it was so bad! Like others have said, get yourself going on some high fiber and such ... :P

A daily stool softener helps some - ask your pharmacist for a recommendation.

Magnesium was more than a cure for me - I quite literally pooped my pants on two occasions. Luckily, I was at home both times, but not only had to wash my panties and other clothes, but the bathroom rugs as well!

I'd go with lots of fiber, a daily stool softener and plenty of water!

Don't worry dear - it's a predictable side-effect that CAN be dealt with.

I've always included lots of fruits and veggies in my regular diet and never had a problem when I went onto Verapamil.

Then again I've been known to include fermented meats (real old world style cuisine) in my regular diet so who knows. :-/
