I really like to own my O2 stuff, since insurance has been a PITA and not available for O2.

Masks are easy enough to find. It's a non-rebreather fo $2.00, 0r a Clustermasx (http://homepages.nildram.co.uk/~tritech2/clusterx/index.html) for the Cadillac version that really works.

Regulators. I got a bunch, or you can buy them online.....either bidding yer arse off on EBay, or buying them new......540's or 870's.

Bubblers. Big deal. $2.00 at Mooremedical.com (http://www2.mooremedical.com/index.cfm?PG=CTL&CS=MCO&FN=ProductDetail&PID=676)

But what about Tanks? (You're welcome.) How's about a good resource for tanks, medical grade?
E tanks are excellent for portability, but the average CHead runs thru them like white rice at a Chinee wonton festival. H tanks are great, but even Man Mountain Mike has a hard time moving them around. MM tanks are nice, with 3500 liters of canned air, as are N tanks with 1500. But where to buy them?

Like I said, I'm all in favor of having my own stuff, the right stuff.

o2 is readily available at any liquid/gas supply store. Every county has'm.

All you need to do is adapt your mask to a Harris regulator. Not hard, just don't tell them what its for.

Sorry Hap, but I have only dealt with welding tanks.....I have converted many medical regulators but med tanks are out of my research seeing that I never needed one.

Hell, I havent had need for the welding tank in awhile....life is starting to get good ;;D

Try calling the joint that makes them.

I'd agree, but I took my 540 to 3 different shops (2 gas stations and a repair joint), and my regulator didn't fit on any of their tanks. Close, but no cigar...had to do with the threads/size/spacing. I may not be the brightest bulb in the lighting display, but it was enough to make me shy away from welding.......NOT that it isn't a viable alternative.....but there's threads and there's threads......adaptors are the key.
I can't seem to find the right one.

Enlighten me.

Another cool utility surfaces!
Found this one on EBay - it's a transfer regulator - hook it up to an H tank, and refill E tanks in the privacy of your own home - No Waiting.

I think that folks would be real interested to note that, like Jonny, the regulator you sent me also has a CGA-540 fitting. Gives folks the option of using welding tanks if they want to.

I would REALLY like to know where you obtained that
big nasty bloated .jpg(or whatever) photo of some blue tanks
of some kinda gas--stored with what lools like roach spray, paint,
some mean and ugly tanques protejido con pintura vieja
cylinders filled with mystery vapor and rust, boxes of rags and used-up fire-extinguishers...
the cigarette butts under the DANGER/NO FUMAR sign were probably left by CHers
negotiating after-hour rates with the local o2 merchant.

DO NOT PURCHASE oxygen tanks from any place
that even remotely looks like the picture above. This is the BEFORE shot of Industrial Safety Tragedy Bulletin # 23886

A well-run oxygen supplier (welding AND/OR medical) will
keep his supply in segregated, labeled containers. The place will NOT be in business long if it looks like SeanC's
photo.

Listen to these folk: MrHappy, jonny, marc, et al. they know
what works.....

Although it's hard to believe........I've erred, and stand corrected.
The local shops weren't using Oxygen. Thought I wouldn't know the difference. They didn't.
OK, so no other adaptor is needed for 540's. Beauty.

That transfer - refill unit came today.

It works, but the transfer doesn't acutally Fill the second tank. It only transfers over as much as possible depending on the remaining pressure in the big tank. Not really worth the 50 bucks, but better than a stick in the eye.
Back to looking for more cool shit.
