Title: Afraid to be hopeful
Post by kimmeesue on Oct 3rd, 2005, 4:32pm
Have been on 750 mg of Depakote for three weeks now and have had only one minor hit in the past 8 days.  This down from about 4 a week.
Has anyone had long term success from Depakote?  Seems like everything works for me for awhile (few months) and then stops.
Guess I should just enjoy the reprieve.
Kim

No, no success with Depakote. And Yes, enjoy your pain free time. You've got it pretty easy anyways (by comparison) ... some get major hits 4 (or more) times A DAY  :-/

Kim I have used Depakote since 2002 it  works  better for me than anything else. I do use O2 when things get really bad.

Never used it, but really glad you have had some PF time.  8 PF days can feel like a re-birth.  Thats really great.
If you went back and tried meds that you took a few years ago that stopped working, do you think they may work now?  Just for example, if you used to take predisone but then stopped and havent taken it for years, you think it would work if you took it now?

Never give up hope.
No matter how how cold and lonely the night may be, the sun will always rise.
Enjoy your PF time

just make sure that you get regular blood test. My son is on it and the Dr. said it can be very bad for the kidneys. He has to get his blood tested at last every 6 months

When taking any drug for an extended period of time, its a good idea to get the liver checked every 6 months.
