Title: What is the differences between topamax and
Post by nancyc on Dec 13th, 2005, 6:57pm
zonagram? ANd has anyone had any sucess with zonagram and if so, at what dose? What are the side effects if any....I have taken both but never got any relief from Zonagram...course I was not on a high dose.  With topamax, i got some relief but had terrible side effects...Dont know what to do now but know I have to make some decisions.....Any input would help. smiles, nancyc

Zonagran is a similar med but apparently does not have the same nasty side effects.

Dr. Sheftell has said that he has used it successfully with some of his patients.

EDouble, thanks for that link..i realize now that the zonegram was the culprit causing me to clinch my jaws so tight that it was triggering off another type of headache too...I am still having around six chs per day , mostly during the nite...several of them are only one hour apart...this is pure hell...i have not gone thru this since i was out of work on disability for three months..please send up some prayers..and for the angels that send arsenal, many hugs to you.  nancyc

I'm sure you have but I'll ask about melatonin.....
Have you tried it?
I can honestly say that it was the one thing that knocked out my night hits.

they tend to come in 3mg tablets.
I have had success with taking 9mg but I would start lower and guage how you feel.

Thomas was my melatonin guru.

He used regular and a time released prior to bed.

I only have experience with regular.

30-40 minutes before bed and I found relief pretty quickly. It was amazing.

It took some getting used to but within a week they were gone.
I also wound up with more energy to deal with the daytime hits
