I just got back from Neurologist and he prescribed Decadron and Periactin.

Does anyone have any experience with these meds ?

I know Periactin is an Antihistamine that might help Serotonin but can't find out much more other than scientific bs.

I have not figured out Decadron yet.

Greetings Cluster0557!
I am no help with the meds, altho Mopar received no relief from antihistamines.
There is a useful search at:
http://www.healthsqr.com/eindex.htm and I hope you find this useful. I keep it on Favourites so its handy when another med is suggested. You could look it up there and get better informed.
Also use the search button on the left of your screen. Type in your question and be prepared to be amazed at the info. in there.
Check out the medical info on the OUCH site too.
And join!
I feel it is best if we are really well informed. This avoids you trying meds that do not work for CH, which are often prescribed by docs desperate to give patients relief from something that has them beat. I cannot see why CHers should have to put up with side effects from drugs that probably will not help, as happened to my husband. CH is bad enough on its own!
Lotsa luck, and wishing you PFDAN
Kind thoughts are with you.

What I am looking for is has anyone actually been prescribed these wonder drugs and have they helped.

I feel like the next science experiment with all the chemicals and drugs I have dropped in my body over the last few seasons and this chronic phase.

I know anti-depressants and me don't play well and I am wondering if any one has had good luck with these two drugs.

Ouch is useless here.

Decadron is a very "STRONG " steroid. I took it this past aug. for 10 or 11 days. While i was taking it i was getting some releif, but it did not break the cycle ( i am chronic and was getting hit from 1-7 times a day ).  This was the fourth time they put me on steroids this year, the previous 3 times i took pred.with no help whatsoever. The side effects that i had from the decadron, steroid acne( all over my back and chest ),lost my mind for 21 day's,puffy face that is still there( 4-months later ). I must admit, while i was taking them, they did keep the beast under control( on the avg. of 1-hit a day)which was great.BTW the acne came after i stopped taking the decadron ( i beleive it was 1 or 2 day's later ). Good Luck and PFDAN to you!!!!!!!!
