Roxy - welcome and I hope you've clicked your way thru this site and the OUCH website. There is tons of great info on both sites.
Click on the medical info and the medications buttons on the left of the screen. Nexium is a stomach pill for folks with ulcers and such. Indo usually doesn't do squat for cluster headaches. Ueli will know exactly what its used for.
The prefered drugs for CH are Oxygen and triptans (Imitrex) for abortives, and Verapamil (and others) as preventatives. Many docs will get a new CH patient on Prednisone and Verapamil. The pred stops the CH while the Verap builds up in the system. As you come off the pred, the verap kicks in.
Don't be embarassed about the Big O. There was a long discussion on the board about this not long ago. Do a search and you may be able to find it. The conclusion was that you are giving the blood somewhere else to go, rather than aggrevate the trigeminal nerve. Many confessed to using this method to abort an attack.
Read, read, read. After you have absorbed the info from this site, you will know more about CH than most doctors.

Thank you so much for pushing that to the top. I searched the site but didn't find much.

I know all the guys were saying they can't get off during a ch. It doesn't seem to work unless you can catch it at the very beginning of an attack.

I just know I'll keep using it as long as it works...doesn't seem to have alot of bad side effects!!!! Anything rather than more meds.

Welcome Roxy and whatever helps.....helps. As Domm says, this has been discussed here before. There seems to be something to the circulatory component to CH. It seems to go along with Dr. Wright's circulatory method. It makes some sense to me.

Sorry Roxy but I cant resist. Charlie- your sorry that whats necessary? ............Roxy- could you perhaps describe your cure in more detail...................maybe a video for sommeliers publicity show....may cure us all................Fergetfull- as she said not medicinal..there is a limit to mans ability 6 months maybe, but a whole year straight even I couldnt pull that off. ....just funnin here someone had to start..... Seriously Roxy its really good to know that something works and am sure this is nothing to be embarrassed of, untill someone like me butts in....wait till I tell the boys. ;)

Well, I got hit twice this morning with the little darlins'...the main problem is my husband is working 400 miles away in Houston...I have to stay home on the ranch. And the ultimate stupidity is forgetting to recharge...I know husbands need recharging too, but they can usually manage in a clinch!

But, like I said before...I much prefer the side effects of the non-meds cure. I've tried exercise, which seems to work pretty well, but I've had 8 knee surgeries, so running is out...climbing on the horses doesn't exert enough energy, so I'm still searching for options. I'd honestly like to get back to sex as a everyday fun thing...don't think husband likes the responsiblity of getting rid of that much pain!

Roxy most husbands hate to take on that much responsibility most prefer to be the pain it seems. I too use exercise and helps me. my excersises are performed differently however than yours. [and less than half the satisfaction i might add]

I've actually tried hauling hay. We didn't have any in the field, so I moved some from one side of the barn to the other...quickly decided the less strenuous cure was better...of course trying to concentrate through the pain, the kids banging on the door hollering, "Mom, what are you doing!" and praying they don't hear the electronic help I'm using...does send my out looking for other methods at times..

Just wish I could move to the eposodic group.

Roxy I have been chronic and now I am episodic. Tried 98% of the reccomended meds out there too and none have helped me yet. I say if you have found something that helps more power to you, your one of the lucky ones.

Well, here's to me being here for any other attacks you might get. Or feel free to use me as a preventative too. Who knows what powers I might have to help. Verapamil is used twice per day. Just let me know. :-*

Got my wife to read this one!!!!THANX!!!!!!!!Anways just diagnosed myself after 2 years of hurtin.Verapamil,im. injections,midrin,water(all the usual) and alot of chocolate seems to help believe it or not,just ate half a pound and a gallon of water should be good for the night.Guess chocolate and sex have alot in common after all!!!!
