Title: Any pain in your gums?
Post by ccraig on Dec 3rd, 2002, 10:22pm
I have had cluster headaches for the past 28+ years.  My symptoms are similar to most of those found in your website.  This current session has been going on for 3+ weeks now and it doesn't look like it will end any time soon.

My CHs are always behind my right eye, and during an attack I get a small amout of relief by pressing my fingernail up against my gums on the upper right side of my jaw.  After the attack subsides, those same gums are very sensitive.  Does this sound familiart to anyone else.

Welcome to the site Ccraig
Your gums may hurt because the trigeminal nerve runs through them.
Click below and follow the (orange colored) trigeminal nerve and you will see where it is in the teath/gums.

among the many things i use for relief is
baby oragel.  this numbs my upper left bridge.
for my sinus blockage i engage in a sinus
pill every three hours. agter many severe
attacks,  16 in the past two days, i use
an anti-inflammortory such as anaprox.

at the onset i put on a kettle of water
and carefully inhale the steam.

the warm/hot seems to help....be careful

then i drink some super hot tea.

hard to believe but a cigerette ...the smoke..
in my gum area...is quite helpful.....dont try this
unless you smoke.

ive had cluster since age 12   i will be 47 next month

this episode  is awful  bad...;last episode  march 2002
very brief....low pain levels........this one is awful.

i drink alot of warm/hot water during the day as
i am always "tight" in the face......my eyelid
looks like ive been with rocky......

the amazing thing is once the episode is over
6-8 weeks.........i just have regular headaches
like all the rest of the world.

God bless us all

Ccraig - when I'm getting hit, the affected side is extremely painful to touch, so I can't say I've actually stuck and poked my fingers around my gums. Welcome to the board BTW. I'm sure someone here in clusterville has similar experiences.

Dviscarde - sneaky way to intro yourself, tagging on to Ccraig post.. ;) ;).. Why don't you guys both post on the general board and say hello.

Anyway - welcome and stick around, I'm sure you can contribute.
