We are very excited to announce:

The Organization for Understanding Cluster Headaches Annual Convention 2006
When:      Thursday July 13, 2006-Sunday July 16 2006
Where:      Country Springs Hotel, Water Park, Conference Center
Waukesha, WI (right outside of Milwaukee)


Room rates: $109.00 single or double, Children 16 years and under may share the same room with
parents at no additional charge. A charge of $10 per person will be added for each additional adult over two.  Rates include a deluxe continental breakfast (Monday through Friday), USA Today (Monday through Friday) and free local phone calls. Room rate also includes wireless Internet in your room and throughout the hotel. Parking is free.

Please give the OUCH group name when registering for this very reduced rate.

The 2006 convention will include Friday breakfast, dinner, and ALL Saturday meals. The fee will be announced early next year. We are currently working on major sponsorship for the convention to alleviate a large portion of the cost to our members.

It will include speakers and program on Friday and Saturday with plenty of time left for socializing. And of course we will have our banquet, auction and entertainment too!

If you would like to volunteer and help, please post here or PM Rori (lionsound).

Although I have never posted on this board, I have visited often. I am not very compurter literate and always seem to lose my password. But I just yesterday reserved the room for the 2006 Convention. I am looking foward to meeting everyone since I have never met another cluster sufferer in person.

Sorry I have not posted more often. In addition to being compurter illeterate I am also very busy at work. Am going to Mexico next week. Hoping that the headaches stay away for the trip. Am still more excited about Milwaukee than Cabo San Lucas.

brewcrew has offered to set up a tour of the Harley plant.

Milwaukee also has Miller Brewing and Sprecher.

Cedarburg (a northern suburb) has the Cedarburg Winery.

The webpage outlining the OUCH 2006 Convention in Milwaukee, WI has been updated!

In a departure from past Conventions, educational sessions will be held on both Friday and Saturday.

OUCH is pleased to announce that Friday's speaker will be Dr. Todd Rozen, MD.

We don't know yet, Louise. Someone has to volunteer to host it. Mostly, they just do the local stuff and work with the convention committee.

Went to see my doctor and told him about the convention. He is in Northbrook Il. He seemed very interested and has talked highly of this website. I am very happy to see so many people going. Very much looking foward to July, to meet and get to know all of you better.

The Organization for Understanding Cluster Headaches Annual Convention 2006  

When: Thursday July 13, 2006-Sunday July 16 2006

Room rates: $109.00 single or double, Children 16 years and under may share the same room with
parents at no additional charge. A charge of $10 per person will be added for each additional adult over two. Rates include a deluxe continental breakfast (Monday through Friday), USA Today (Monday through Friday) and free local phone calls. Room rate also includes wireless Internet in your room and throughout the hotel. Parking is free.

The hotel website tells you that there are no vacancies during the convention time frame when you try to make reservations online.  This is not the case.  O.U.C.H. has reserved a block of rooms for the convention.  Please use the 1-800 number listed above to make your reservations and give the OUCH group name when registering for this very reduced rate.

The 2006 convention will include Friday breakfast, dinner, and ALL Saturday meals. The fee will be announced early next year. We are currently working on major sponsorship for the convention to alleviate a large portion of the cost to our members.

It will include speakers and program on Friday and Saturday with plenty of time left for socializing. And of course we will have our banquet, auction and entertainment too!

Andrew Sewell, M.D.

Dr. Andrew Sewell received a BA in physics from Cornell University, a degree in medicine from the University of Connecticut Medical School in Hartford, completed a double residency in neurology and psychiatry at the University of Massachusetts in Worcester, and now works at the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Research Center at Harvard Medical School. He originally started studying cluster headache only in order to answer a fairly academic question about the relationship between abnormal neuroendocrine response by the hypothalamus and increased incidence of substance abuse, but quickly found it to be such and interesting yet understudied disorder that he is now trying to start a research program entirely devoted to cluster headache.

John Halpern, M.D.

Dr. Halpern is a Harvard Medical School  instructor of psychiatry and as associate director of substance abuse research at Harvard University's McLean Hospital and is at the forefront of a revival of research into psychedelic medicine. He recently received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to give late-stage cancer patients the psychedelic drug MDMA, also known as ecstasy. He is also laying the groundwork for testing LSD as a treatment for cluster headaches.

I have a ? about items I have to go to OUCH convention for door prizes or such.                                                  Hello everyone I want to know who do I contact to send items I want to donate for door prizes and such for the up coming 2006 OUCH convention. As you all know my best friend Dave did the Ouch model of the stock car Bill
Racer1_NC spots for. Plus I almost have done the OUCH model I am building which is named "BEAST HUNTER" (oh its coming along great and you all will love it its very cool). So far it looks like I will be able to go but incase I cant I have items I want to donate plus my dad has extra Jeff Gordon diecast he wants to donate 2 of them and the place I used to work (CarQuest auto Parts)has given me two items also for OUCH. I will post this also on the general board too cause it looks like not too many people have posted here for awhile. Hi! I don't really get on this site a lot and post, but I must admit reading about this convention makes me want to join in the fun [smiley=laugh.gif]. You guys sound like a roudy bunch. Since I have been having these cluster headaches, fun has almost been out of the question. Alcohol has not touched these lips in quite some time, but willing to live it up with people like you. Hoping to get time off to join in the fun!

If I will arr. at O’Hare Int’l Airport Chicago (Illinois) at 15:15 (3:15pm) - 14 July How long do I have to Drive to Country Springs Hotel, Water Park, Conference Center and will it be a problem for me to take the flight back to Switzerland on Su. 16 July at 19:25 (7:25pm)
Hop its not a long drive..........as I dont like driving, and not after a long flight, and what should be the wether like?

Melissa, Liz & Rori will be better able to answer your question on the airport information, but the weather in Milwaukee in July is as follows.  I had to look it up and converted it for you as I am certain you do not use Farenheight in Switzerland.

It would be about a 2 hour drive from O'Hare to Waukesha.  Is there a way you could fly into Milwaukee instead?

Tks. for the Info.
The Swiss flight is from Zurich non-stop to O'Hare. No direct flights to Milwaukee so will have to live with the 2h. car drive.........  what looks like will be a very long day (week end)
But still looking forwards to take part in the Convention, and meet (if not all) some of this (grate) virtual  (for me) family I was forced in - and so grateful I have you all.

There is a bus that will take you from O'Hare airport to the Milwaukee airport - cost is quite reasonable. There would definitely be someone available to pick you up from the airport in Milwaukee.

I may be wrong about this, but I believe the only direct connections between New York and Milwaukee would come via Midwest Airlines, and they only fly into and out of La Guardia airport. Perhaps you could find a shuttle from JFK to La Guardia???

Michael, you need to phone the hotel to book the room.  

Also, easiest thing to do is book your flight where you fly into Chicago, and then take another smaller connecting flight to Milwaukee.  Whenever we fly out of Milwaukee to another country or to California, we always have a connecting flight through Chicago's O'Hare airport (due to it being an international airport).

It's the same place, Michael. Pewaukee is the Town of Pewaukee. The hotel is located there, but their mail is delivered out of Waukesha, the nearest larger city.

You shouldn't have a problem.

OUCH regrets that Todd D. Rozen, M.D. has notified us of a scheduling conflict with his family and will be unable to speak at this years OUCH Convention. Our convention organizer is working hard to book another speaker for the Friday night slot.

Ok, I freely admit to being mentally challenged - no comment please Jonny! - how do I know how much I'm supposed to pay for the registration?  HELP!  What to do?  All bases covered - airline, hotel and car - except registration.  HELP THE 'TARD!

I have a question about the registration fee. I live about an 90 minutes away from the convention and am not sure if family is joining me or not. If I sign them up are they considered members? I think they will be there at least part of the weekend. Could I just register them for the banquet only?

Well I hate to say it but its been priced out of my range this year, wish I could afford it but well you guys know how it is..........Have fun.

Edited to add, bad choice of words above, with my vacation in Sept and going to visit my mom I wont be able to afford or get the vacation time to go...........

Just sitting here alone after midnight and looking at the flighttickets to Milwaukee.

The butterflies in my tummie for the trip still makes trouble .Feels like an atomic war down there.

Im so filled with joy,happiness and exitement to finally meet my dear clusterfamily again.

Some of you i have never met and you are just as close as the clusterheads i did meet in Nashville back in 04.

Just wish someone did know how to speed up the time so we did not have to wait so long

Still trying to figure out if I can make it out this year. Just have to see if I can afford it. Hopefully in July I can get some more clips up online from stuff I shot in Davenport and Nashville still. I really want to go, just have to see in a couple weeks and make a decision. Thanks!

By all means, reserve your room by June 14 and then cancel it later if you can't make it. This is the drop-dead date for reservations, and we'd hate to see you decide you can make it at the last minute only to find yourself without a room.

Ahhh Yes!!!!!!

Things are working out and it looks like Blake & I will both be able to attend the convention this year.

Now.....all we have to do is figure out how to get through/around Chicago....it's a mess with all the construction.

Looking forward to seeing all the old friends again and meeting the newbies....... :-*

Whew!  Just spent some time reading through this entire thread and trying to make a list of people who are coming (sort of a cheat sheet so I can try to remember names)   ;)  There's a BUNCH!  I'm getting so excited!  Does anyone have a complete head count?  Looks like a pretty good turnout.

Yup Nani, 2 freegin weeks. weeeee!

I just booked my flight  ;;D.  I even had screwed up my reservation, and booked the return for Sat. , but the airline people were so nice!  [smiley=headbanger.gif]  The reservationist changed my res back to Sunday without the change fee.  Woulda cost me over 100 bucks.  

Guess things are taking a turn for the better, and its about TIME!

See you guys soon.. Oh Lizz, where are you?  Need to arrange the pickup for Thursday a.m.

It's with great sadness that I say that I will not be able to make it this year. I am a bit behind in paying the old credit card and I will be working this week regardless. Unfortunately I work freelance and can't turn down work when it comes. But I hope to see you sooner than later somewhere else down the road. I'm still plugging away at raising money to make my Clusterheads film and will keep everyone updated. Thanks again for all your support and warm wishes over the years. Have a drink or two for me!
