Title: frustrated wife with questions?
Post by BRYZIE on Sep 11th, 2003, 10:10am
???My husband got his first attack Sept 2 around noon, and they have continued since.  He experiences all of the symptoms except that his pain is not on one side or the other, it is on both (right in the middle) and he will mostly get attacks at night but today he has been up since 4 am eating pain pills it was like he had 2  attacks in a row I thought they were going because yesterday he went back to work and was good all day.  I don't know what to do for him he wants to go back to the doc's today to get some meds, but the imitrex pills did not work and the doc's have no idea what to do. I am sorry I am rambling I am not sure what i am asking I guess I was just surprised and relieved to see so many understanding people.  Thank-you for listening

Bryzie,

You need to print lots of the info that is available here, for your husband to take to the doctor with him.  He needs to get to a neurologist too, someone who knows something about CH and can make a correct diagnosis.  If he does have CH, pain pills are not the answer - but there is lots to try, starting with oxygen.  If it is CH, there is no pattern to the attacks, can occur anytime, so you need to be prepared.  Good luck! and keep in touch.

Great post Bonnie... Have your hubby also take the Cluster quiz on the left... There are headaches that are dreadfully serious so just dont diagnose yourself... It sounds to me as if he has something other than a cluster or two things going on at once... If his temp elevates be sure you go to the ER not to scare you but I had meningitis and the headache sounded similar to that one.... good luck and post back let us know whats up love to you Ree

HI I JUST REGISTERED CLUSTER HEADACHE.COM.  I WANT TO SHARE MY STORY.  MY HUSBAND JACK STARTED WITH CLUSTER HEADACHES 15 YEARS AGO.  UP UNTIL THIS TIME HE NEVER HAD ANY HEADACHES. WE HAVE WENT THROUGH SOME VERY TOUGH YEARS TOGETHER.  I FEEL SO HELPLESS WATCHING HIM GO THROUGH THESE MONSTER HEADACHES.  WE HAVE HAD EVERY TEST AVAILABLE, BUT NOTHING EVER SHOWS UP. WE HAVE TRIED ACUPUNTURE, EXERCISE, STAYING AWAY FROM HEADACHE TRIGGERS LIKE CHOCOLATE, NUTS, BANANAS, ONIONS, CAFFEINE.  NOTHING CAN STOP THEM FROM COMING ON.  HE HAD CLUSTER HEADACHES FOR 13 YEARS, THEN FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS HE WAS HEADACHE FREE, WHY WE DON'T HAVE A CLUE.  WE WERE JUST TALKING ABOUT HOW NICE IT HAS BEEN FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS AND YEA YOU GUESSED IT, HE STARTED GETTING TWINGES IN HIS RIGHT TEMPLE THEN THE HEADACHES STARTED.  SOMETIME HE HAS 6 OR 8 A DAY AND ALSO AT NIGHT.  THE ONLY RELIEF HE GETS IS WHEN HE TAKES A IMITRIX SHOT, BUT THEY LEAVE HIM TOTALLY WIPED OUT.  I HAVE TO SAY I HAVE NEVER FELT SO HELPLESS AS I DO WHEN HE IS HAVING ONE OF THESE HEADACHES.  TO LOOK AT HIM HIS WHOLE DEMEANOR CHANGES, HIS RIGHT EYE DROOPS HIS SINUSES GET STUUFY AND HE ALWAYS GETS INDIGESTION BURPING REPEATEDLY.  I AM AT MY WITS END. IF ANYONE KNOWS OF A NEW MEDICATION OR TECHNIQUE USED TO REMOVE THIS SWOLLEN BLOOD VESSEL PLEASE LET ME KNOW.  THANKS FOR LISTENING TO ME POUR OUT MY HEART. SUZYQ
