Title: Common CH "triggers" ? (i.e. drugs not foods) Post by Mikeyy on Jun 4th, 2008 at 9:37pm
Other than alcohol, are there any other drugs (perscription or other) that seem trigger or exascerbate CHs?

They will actually use nitro to trigger an attack for CH studies! Definitely one to avoid. Marijuana seems to be a wobbler, a trigger for some but not for others.

Histamine (intravenously or subcutaneously) also induces an attack when sufferers are in bout.
Other agents which may trigger attacks include sildenafil (through PDE5 inhibition), calcitonin-gene-related-peptide (through CGRP receptors), m-chlorophenylpiperazine (a 5-HT1a/2 agonist), fenfluramine (by decreasing brain serotonin) and reserpine (monamine release in general and serotonin). YMMV of course. -Lee |
