surgery.  She got word this afternoon that her latest white blood cell count was normal and they can do it tomorrow......at 10:30am.

So, it's finally here.  I'll be staying for a couple of nights in a motel about 1/2 mile away.

I can admit only to you (all) that I am so scared for her.  I know she's scared too, but it must be done.  The spinal curve is now at 59 degrees.

I know you are all praying for her and I know that she will be OK.  It's just a scarey thing.  She's my little girl, ya know.

I talk like she's some dependent, weak person, but she's one of the strongest women I've ever known.  And she's wise.  I honestly don't know where she got that.  But I'm very proud of her and pray that she can be "Nurse Judy" again someday.

Like I said, I know you are all praying, so you need not reply to this thread.  Just thanks for being here for her and me.

I put away my candles last week and I'm going to bring them back out tonight Donna.  She's going to be just fine.  This is a good thing and she'll be back to what she loves to do, in a much better body thanks to the surgeons.  And no pain either.

Now get a good nights rest.  That's an order.

Please give Judy and yourself each a hug from me!!  I've been praying for Judy and for you for some time now, and I will be redoubling that effort for tonight, tomorrow, and the days ahead.  From one nurse to another, I know how important the job is to nurses in a personal way, and Judy is another one who views it as more than just a job - but a passion.  Her back problems have made it so she cannot continue with the thing she loves, or even have a normal life at all.

I know this surgery is big and scary, and not even the end of the road, but hopefully it's going to change hers and your life drastically for the better!!  You know when life gets this way, hard decisions have to be made.  You both show a tremendous amount of courage to move forward with this!!

Praying really hard that everything goes smoothly!!  Please let us know how she's doing when you can.  And take care of yourself, too!!
