Has anyone here had any dental work done using nitrous oxide, and had it bring on a hit?

I have some dental work coming up, and may need to use it, and I was just reading in another thread that it is a vasodilator. It just didn't occur to me about this.

Anyone have a hit triggered using it?

Chris, to answer your question No.

You know I'm chronic and I was so afraid to have a lot dental work done 2 yrs. ago and use it.   I had it several times and not a hit did it produce.  Not one.

Go have your teeth done.   ;)

I never had any problems with it, either, Chris.

Never a CH hit, but sometimes a regular headache.  I actually find regular headaches refreshing sometimes. :D

This is good to know, I'm going in for some serious dental work soon....The real question I've got after reading this link and other info about Nitrous Oxide being a NMDA receptor antagonist---Has anyone had Nitrous actually abort a cluster?

The nitrous oxide used as an anesthesia during dental work is actually a 50:50 mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen...  As such, there shouldn't be any concern about a CH during the dental work when you're given nitrous oxide as anesthesia..

I had the two confused myself and thought maybe that's what you may have come across & thought...ut oh!

My worries came from me thinking that NITROUS oxide might end up getting broken down into NITRIC oxide in the body, but that fear appears to be unfounded.  And Oxygen has never worked for me, even at 65 LPM with a non rebreather mask, so the addition of O2 is kinda a moot point for me.  I am really intrigued by the idea that the NO2 could actually abort a cluster through it's NMDA receptor antagonist activity.  If I wasn't allergic to dairy I would be reliving my teenage years and grab some whipped cream from my local dairy mart.  Anybody that's not allergic to dairy game to try?

Went to the dentist on Tuesday, almost canceled because of the stabbing pain in my eye.  Less then a minute after inhaling nitrous out of the mask my headache was 100% gone, and stayed gone all day into the next (still haven't had to take anything, but shadows are creeping in steadily-probably have to take ketamine tonight)  Ordered a "whipped cream" maker and 2 boxes of nitrous cartridges yesterday....I'll keep ya posted!

"whipped cream" maker proved to be worthless...Complete pain relief....For about 30 seconds.  Oh well--makes a real mean coconut whipped cream at least.  :)  I think the real reason the Dentist Nitrous helped so much was because I was in there with a mask on for 2 hours.  My Dentist was really intrigued by the idea that it helped my headaches and has offered to let me come down and try it out if I want to again, with no dentist work.  I'll keep everybody posted if I get to try it again.
