Title: TGIF
Post by Sandy_C on Jun 20th, 2008 at 4:12pm
Thank you God for Fridays!

As you all know, my bossman Bill passed away on 5/18.  His wife Susie inherited everything, lock stock and barrel, including both of our corporations.

Susie now wants to "get her hands in" and learn the business, a business that her husband had for over 30 years and she never once attempted to learn a dog goned thing!

Susie, as owner, went to our bank and signed new signature cards on our accounts, with her name only, taking my name off, meaning that nobody but Susie can sign a check.  My name has only been on these accounts for about 18 years, but no longer.  She told me to clear with her any checks that had to be written beforehand, then write the checks, and put them in her little "in" basket so she could sign them.  This was being done so she could help me.

I asked Ms. Susie, what happens if you are out of town, or God forbid, injured or killed in an accident and you can't sign the checks to our vendors, rent, electric, phone, oh, and yes, my paycheck?  What if you can't sign?  Her response was "well Bill's lawyer told me to put my name on the signature cards".  Yes, but did Bill's lawyer tell you to take my name off the signature cards?  She hemmed and hawed on this question and I did not get a definitive answer.  Hmmmm ?  What is this saying to me?

Well, today, Bill's son, Eric and Susie had a meeting with the lawyer.  Susie came back in the office with new signature cards in hand and asked me to put my signature back on them.

Susie has now been caught in lie #1

Eric, Bill's son, is our new corporate president.  Eric does not wake up in the mornings before 10:00, if we're lucky, and will then call me to see what, if anything is happening that he needs to come in and take care of.  He specifically is interested only in things we are doing for  HIS customers, not Bill's tried and true customers.  If anything is going on with Bill's customers, Eric tells me to take care of it, but if something has come in on one of his customers, he'll be there soon.

Well, I've "taken care" of just about everything for the last 12 months in this business with zero help from anyone.  Now, I'm getting offers of help from wife, Susie, and son, Eric, nether of whom actually steps up to the plate and does anything.

Both of them are asking me to do more than what I have done for the past year, which was completely run this business alone.  Both are saying they want to help me, yet all they are doing is adding more to my workload.

Thank you for letting me vent.  I know none of you can solve my situation.  Just knowing that someone out there is listening and cares means so much to me.

I love you all.

Sandy

Knock them all in the head and say...not without proper compensation.
See I think you need a raise for all this extra work. It's only fair.
1 boss=1 salary
3 bosses=3 salary's
What a world

Borrow some cash, start up a competing business, and lead all the customers to the right person.

You never mentioned having signed a no-compete agreement, did you? ;)

Hee hee hee....I did that in the 80's, a dude taught me how to do drywall and when I mastered it (in 6 months) he wouldnt give me a raise, and treated me like shit.

I started my own company and under bid every one of the jobs he bid on. I already knew most of the contrators and they liked me and my price.....LMAO.....That dude moved to California a year later.....LMMFAO!!!!!!  ;D

Sandy,
Stuck between a rock and a a hard spot- that is tough! If you make demands, you could find yourself out of a job..........ahh, but that leads to unemployment compensation.............then again, you could go on the way you are, and end up working harder than when you were 'covering' for bossman..............
They need you, but that does no good whatsoever if they don't KNOW they need you.

Well, my best help is to remind you to inhale, exhale and repeatas necessary..........and let us know what progresses.

Sorry, luv.........this sucks........
