Title: A Farewell for Daniel...
Post by Mrs Deej on Jun 26th, 2008 at 8:48am
Annette,

Please allow us to post here to say our goodbyes to Daniel.  I hope you come back to check on us. (that way you can just print it out if you wish and add it to your guest book.)  You are loved by many.  We are a part of your family and we just want to have a place to send condolences.

Daniel, May the light always shine on your face!!  You are in God's hands now, you are safe.

Much love,
Stephanie, DJ, Conner and Brandon

Farewell, brother.

And to you, my brave sister--I wish only healing and health, the smiles of your children, and many, many years of happiness.

May you find peace, and rediscover joy.

My best always,

George

You can shed tears that he is gone
or you can smile because he has lived.

You can close your eyes and pray that he’ll come back
or you can open your eyes and see all he’s left.

Your heart can be empty because you can’t see him
or you can be full of the love you shared.

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
- or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember him and only that he’s gone
or you can cherish his memory and let it live on.

You can cry and close your mind,
be empty and turn your back
or you can do what he’d want:
smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

You're not alone Annette, Daniel is with you every minute of the day. Close your eyes and you'll see him, listen for his voice inside you - you'll hear it. He's only around the corner, in the next room, at the bottom of the garden - just out of sight but with you none the less.

I know this, there are people in my life I can't see but I can feel them with me every time I need them

Dear Daniel:

Although we'd never met, we're brothers.  Because we're brothers, I'll always love you and never forget you.  You have moved on, and we're here trying to figure out how to live without you.  Farewell on your journey and I hope that we meet.

To those who are without you, I mourn and pray that The Lord turns our mourning to dancing.  I pray peace and happiness over all of our lives, in His Name -- Amen

Godspeed, Daniel.  I truly hope that you can finally rest in peace, without the pain and suffering that life had inflicted upon you.

Annette and the boys - you are and will remain in my prayers that you may also find some comfort during this very difficult time.

Love,
Carrie

Daniel,

Who's to say where the wind will take you
Who's to know what it is will break you
I don't know which way the wind will blow
Who's to know when the time has come around
Don't wanna see you cry
I know that this is not goodbye

Annette, and anyone who has lost a loved one should read Grief Dreams by Dr. Tina Wray. START PRINTPAGEMultimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or RegisterEND PRINTPAGE
I've known Tina for 30 years now but I do not promote it b/c of knowing her but rather b/c the book helps. I read it when my father died and it helped me tremoundously.

May he alway have the wind at his back, may his sails always be full, may he have a perpetual sunset before him.
Fair winds and following seas, my brother.

Daniel, we never met in person or in cyberspace.  But I've just started to get to know Annette - and I know she is an amazing and wonderful woman.  Your pain and depression must have been unbearable to make the decision to leave such an incredible person behind, let alone your two boys.  I hope and pray you've found the peace you sought.  I know you are an angel now, shining through the hearts of Annette and your children.  They will never know your touch again, and my heart is breaking for them because of that.  But I'm sure you will find ways to make your love known to them, and I hope they feel that comfort.

Rest in peace, Daniel.  My love, thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Laurie

Daniel & Annette,
You have not lived in vain. If only I could tell you. I have been concerned when you were in cycle, looking for help for my own. Your wonderful Wife has helped me understand how valuable someone like her is for you and me.

Thoughts of the two of you, and the Children will be with me for quite some time. We have had family leave us the same way and know how many unanswered questions there are. My prayers ask that Annette, you can find that peace of mind that God wants for you.

A few words to a friend in heaven if I may ....

Dan, it was an honour and privilege to have known you & Annette independently even before you guys got together.  You were truly blessed to have been taken into Annette's heart and vice versa.  The unconditional and beautiful love you both shared was truly an inspiration.

You were the kindest, sweetest, most gentle man one could ever hope to meet.  Last time you were really ill, I flew down to spend a week talking & chain smoking with you.  We found that our lives had so many unfortunate & tragic parallels - except for cluster headaches, for which I remain eternally grateful as I saw your agony and my heart goes out to all who suffer them, as well as their dedicated loved ones.

Your "therapy dog" Happy (an exquisite, obese black Labrador) and I have just returned home to Queensland after spending time down with Annette and the boys during this absolutely heartbreaking time.  I know your soul was with us and that you will continue to look down on your beloved family until you are all reunited.

We will all look after and cherish your beloved wife and the boys always, just as we know you wished you could.

As I said at your funeral, "We salute you mate!  You truly gave it everything you had..."

With love and deepest respect always, Di and family and all your mates up north.  :'(

P.S.  Oh, and to the Aussies who were searching for death notices re Daniel , and to those o/seas looking for e-memorial books etc and not finding them- that was my fault entirely as I was organising most things of that nature and I overlooked the placing of a death notice - not that Daniel would've minded in the least, he had no time for for what he would've thought "superfluous, attention seeking nonsense".

When you see or talk to Annette, please tell her that Matt Matlock and Family thinks the world of her. My mother misses talking to her and would love to have her number so that she can call and give her condolences personally. We love her, her heart is bigger than most.

May the sweet Lord comfort your soul and the promise of a reunion in his kingdom with Daniel brings you hope in your time of sorrow.

You are very loved and I wish you find peace with your children.
