Best bet...........err.. go on a western caribbean cruise, stop in cancun, go to Xcaret...they have a natural haibitat there, where you can remove one from it's open perch...........if they catch you, hey, how expensive could it be?? LOL You'll have the bird....just pay the fine..........ohh, or spend a bit of time in QuantanaRooo Jail! Seriously, I have no ideas, just encouragement. I know how much pleasure you've gotten from the one (umbrella cockatoo?) you have now.......two might double your pleaure! PF, hippy freak! cathi :-* |

I don't know anything about the birds, Chuckles...
but I do believe that Hyacinth Macaw would be a peachy stage name for your burlesque act. |

I owned African Greys and Amazon parrots 20 yeras ago. Hyacinth Macaws cost around $7500. back then. A breeding pair cost close to $25K.
I'm sure things are different now. |

Beautiful brid! Hope you either plan on living to 120 or find a person (young) that will adopt it. It's amazing how long the birds can live.

Let's see... He's already 126 and it doesn't appear that he's going anywhere soon... I would guess that he'd outlive the bird and it's grand children. with warm regards, Tony |

Beautiful creature. :) If and when you are fortunate enough to add one to your household, I am pretty certain that you both will have a harmonious relationship. You know what you're letting yourself in for, unlike some parrot companions that I have known.
It is not ever thus, however, as I'm sure you are aware... I've heard that you don't own a large hookbill--you marry one. You're dealing with an intelligent and enlightened being who may or may not have issues and baggage. There are good marriages and bad ones. I've known a couple of people whose relationship with the bird-brain in their life was, shall we say, less than blissful. The subsequent divorce was messy, emotional, and protracted. Doubtless some of it was the primate's fault, but in a couple of cases, it seemed to me that there was plenty of blame to go around. Anyway, wishing you the very best of luck in finding an agreeable companion. I hope you find one who is not a serial divorcee with a jaded heart--black with evil. Bad enough to suffer a scold, but that beak, after all, can take a finger right clean off at the knuckle. ;) All the best, George |
