Title: 4th of July Recipes?... Post by aubmari on Jul 1st, 2008 at 12:49pm
Hey all!
We go every 4th to my sisters and we all pick one thing to bring for dinner, snacking, etc. I am stumped this year on what to bring. I am looking for something super simple but amazingly delicious at the same time. Any ideas?? :-/ Thanks! Aubmari |

Red, white and blue layered Jello.
There's ALWAYS room for Jello. |

Rocky Road Pudding is AMAZING at picinics. Chocolate pudding with chocolate chips, mini marshmellows, M&M's, or what ever you have laying around the house in it. Goes fast though so if you've got a big family you might want to make 2 packs instead of one. Keep it cool and it makes the perfect summer time treat that's easy to make. Enjoy!

Burgers and hot dogs, laced with gunpowder.
Seems to be what we actually eat on the 4th, anyway. ;) Best, George |

;D Usually we do not make through the night without some type of Brew, Not a big fan of the Jello. Must be the texture. :P I am pretty sure I would mess up the layering and end up with either tie dye or purple ;D Gina |

I'm going to a potluck on the 4th and I will either bring a pasta salad with pesto (yum) or a yellow cake with whipped cream, strawberries and bluberries on top. I won't do a flag pattern, though, I must be a Communist. ;)

On the 4th, I usually bring a Fifth of whiskey. Course this year I'll be up North for 5 days so I went and bought a 1.75 liter of 7 Crown. So I guess I'll be celebrating the 4th with a 7.
Either that or bring the toothpicks :D Or if its a potluck, just bring some "Pot" and all of the food will get eaten, I guarantee it!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have fun! ;) Jimmers |

My family fave is a variation on the 4th of July cake...
Strawberry Poke Cake French Vanilla cake mix............follow instructions. While baking, mash up 2 pints of fresh strawberries with 1 stick of butter and 1 cup of confectioners' sugar..mash it all up really good! When cake is done remove from oven, pour mashed strawberries over top. Poke holes with a fork in cake. Let it cool.....get out of the way!! You can bake your cake from scratch if you wish.I see no reason on this one. This cake travels well, it doesn't need refrigeration, you can decorate the top with more strawberries, serve it with ice cream or whipped cream if desired, but it stands alone as well. Happy Fourth Everyone! Cathi |

I am still undecided..... My brother in law is going with a fish fry (walleye). YUM! So I may changed to find something Fish-ish!! ;)
Definately cake but not sure which one now. The buffalo chicken dip is a must try as well. Oh and I almost forgot... BV and Diet coke..... I will have to pitch a tent in my sisters yard for sure. [smiley=me&mb.gif] Hope you all have a safe and happy 4th! Aubmari |
