Title: Question? Post by Redd on Jul 1st, 2008 at 8:26pm
Mez haz a question.
I stopped going to my dance classes because I think I really injured myself. I've been having a very localized pain just below my navel and slightly to the right. Last week it only was tender when I would cough hard or sneeze. Now the skin itself is tender to the touch, but will have a dull ache 24/7 now. I've checked to see if there is a protrusion that would indicate a hurnia, but I can't sence one. Yes, I know ..go to the Doctor...but my insurance won't begin until the first of the year. Anyone got a clue? It's getting worse instead of better. |

Stop coughing.
Stop sneezing. Stop touching. See a doctor after the first of the year. Or sooner if it continues to get worse. |

Assuming you don't have a hernia or something nefarious like appendicitis, I'll bet you strained a muscle in a weird spot. I'm always doing stuff like that.
Try sloughing off for a few days--maybe put a heating pad on it at night, and see if it gets better. If it doesn't, or if you develop a fever or something--well...I suppose you'll need to see the sawbones, insurance or not. Don't know about you, but I don't like going to the doctor's office unless I have to. Place is full of sick people. Get better, eh? Best wishes, George |

George,
It's not apendiwhatever, as the location is totally wrong. I have been taking it easy, missed class last week, and again this week. It's gotten to the point I can't wear slacks to work because the it's very tender. Skirts or dresses only, and nothing that rides below the navel line. Bill, ;D |

Strange. Does it feel like it's just about on the surface? I've had something like that. Kinda tender but it goes away. I'm not sure what it is but it shows up now and then for a few days. It made me a litlle sensitive to elastic for awhile but it didn't get much in my way. I could never describe the thing.
Pay no attention to me. Find a way to get it looked at soon if it doesn't taper off. Charlie |

Redd,
Just a thought, do you have a free medical clinic there or anywhere near you, to have a doc look at it? Diane |

Redd....
sympathy pain - so if you haven't had your appendix taken out, it could still be that with the pain on the right. Hoping it gets better or resolves itself. Gayle. |

Hot soaking bath in Epson Salts... Grandmaw's rememdy ... worked for about every ache and pain we had when we waz growing up. And we pulled a lot of muscles in dance class. (and don't say a damn thing - I DID take dance classes when I waz a kid - to make a nice little LADY out of me! :-* Can't help it if it didn't work!) ... Repeat as necessary.
Try that and see if it helps. Hugs BD |

I just spoke to a buddy of mine who is a family doc and ran this by him. He says that it could be a muscle problem but he would suggest medical attention. He says that there is a lot of plumbing down there and it could be a number of things.
