My father (God rest his soul) has been dead since 1983... He used to have a fun saying, I"ll see if I can paraphrase it....

"If you want to see criminal activity in this country reduced by one third, execute all the lawyers. Reduce crime by two thirds by executing all the lawyers and politicians. If you want to get rid of all the crime execute all the lawyers, politicians and clergy.

I don't know if it will work but it certainly would make one carefully consider their career choice.

I think this guy pushed things a little far, even for a defense attorney.

Something has to be done to protect our children from the perverts... There's another one on the news all day today. These guys (and gals) need to be castrated immediately - that needs to be MANDATORY. But the bleeding hearts would call that cruel and inhumane punishment -- never mind what they do to their victims. But we can kill dogs we THINK might be rabid and that's ok.... I don't really see the difference.

The sad thing is that castration isn't all that reliable. It's something deeper that's involved. Drugs will work but then how do you get them to take the stuff unless incarcerated and then it probably isn't necessary. Damn sex crimes are the worst in so many ways. Because the Supreme court, in all their infinite wisdom, has deemed the death penalty to be *cruel and unusual punishment* in the cases of child rape.

charlie, you are most correct, castration, whether chemical or not, does not work.  It's not about *sex*, it's about power.  There is only one thing that will permanently cure a pedophile of his desires, and the Supreme court took that away.

What's so sad, is that Rep. Fagan's response was to Jessica's law, which in itself, is a good law and it is designed to get these f*ckers off the street.
