Title: a good shag Post by demon_tone on Jul 22nd, 2008 at 10:21am
ok .. ive read some topics here about some great results with excerise and blood flow to the extremities.. has anyone xperienced positve results after a good shag like me.. I have wondered if it is the physical activity or the stress relief.. or if there is a chemical release ,, eg the " feel good " that fixes it ... appreciate all feedback

Sorry, but a CH hit is about the clearest example of matter over mind that I can think of.
After a very long time with it, the best I've ever managed in the mind-over-matter department as far as CH is concerned is to learn to relax enough and keep calm enough to keep it from getting worse. I could no more do the horizontal hula during a hit than I could play baseball whilst someone was setting my feet on fire. YMMV, and if so, more power to you. Best, George |

What is a "shag"? I think that it is the same as, in German, "ficken" but am not sure.

That's what it means. |

I think TUCK may be right in the "pre-emp strike " comment.. I can see i will need to word things very carefully here as the original post said nothing about "during an attack" and things kinda went astray from there. Furtherst thing from my mind is any form of physical activity "during" an episode but I had noticed that the fitter, healthier and the less stressed i am, that the attacks were not as severe - and a good "Shag" sure does de-stress me.
There are many positive effects of regular sexual activity upon physical and mental wellbeing. Adrenaline and cortisol are produced during sexual activity and Endorphins are released that have an calming and sedating effects. GEORGEs comment about relaxing and keeping calm enough to keep it from getting worse may have soemthing to do with it as well. The researchers tested the theory that migraines and sexual desire may both be associated with serotonin. Serotonin receptors also appear to be involved in several aspects of sexual functioning. Each to his own. Personally I find humor helps the pain and thus can be considered therapy. But that's just me. Even if one doesn't agreee, I hardly see where a few consenting adults having a good time with one single thread on a board among many, many others turns the board into "total mockery".
More to the point, if the title "a good shag" offends, one has the option not to click on it, n'est-ce pas? David |

Michael Wildhaus, I agree upon the fact that this thread is drifting further and further from the original topic, but on the other hand a little bit of fun never heard no one. Sorry you are offended, but that is bound to happen when you throw a bunch of people together. Just try to take it with a grain of salt, it's all harmless. Wishing you painfree days, Michael! |
Title: Re: a good shag Post by Balanchine on Jul 24th, 2008 at 2:25pm
Michael, I have great respect for you as well as everyone here. We all share the same pain. I also respect your wishes as a father. But asking that a group of adults change their behavior because one child "might" see some words that might offend him, especially given what he could be exposed to in the rest of the hugeness of the internet, is something I'm just not willing to do. I'm sorry if this offends you.

Title: Re: a good shag Post by Balanchine on Jul 27th, 2008 at 10:19pm
Yeah maalstrom, there certainly doesn't seem to be rhyme nor reason sometimes, does there? I will say that my neurologist thinks that stress does play a large part, but then using you as an example there are clearly many other factors.
I think I've got stress zeroed in as one of the, if not THE, trigger of my most recent cycle. It was the first I'd had in 4 years and coincided with my brother telling me that he needed heart surgery. Now that he's fixed up fine I'm hoping to go another 4 years.... (hah) David |

I've long believed this to be a viable alternative and have worked hard to conduct viable field-trials on the theory, but every time I try it on she gets a headache so perhaps I'm contagious after all.
I remember some years ago it was suggested that orgasm was a magic bullet for our many lady sufferers and I immediately put my hand up to volunteer, free for nothing and purely in the interests of science, to assist our ClusterDucks any way I could. Regrettably it turned out to be hoax but the offer is still there, girls. (PS Who's John?) |

This whole thread is totally worthless to someone cursed as I am ... An orgasm is a trigger (one of the few I have) for me ... As a matter of fact, my very first cluster hit was at that ... Ummm ... Shall I say "critical moment" while ... ummm ... errrr ... While "performing my husbandly duties" with my wife ....
BUT, as AussieBrian said, PURELY in the interests of science, I keep testing it to see if it is still a trigger ... YUP, it is! (Damnit!) Maybe I will try it again tonight, JUST to make sure, or to see if the beast has morphed again ... Chuck |

Title: Re: a good shag Post by Tosha on Jul 29th, 2008 at 11:25pm
I have for the last 18 years used a good "shag" as an abortive method. I always try o2 first and if that fails, usually in the middle of the night, that is my only recourse and to be honest I don't know how I would survive without it. My poor boyfriend! Especially on the 5 - 6 headache nights! I have been apprehensive about bringing this up on a message board like this but if you can, give it a try. I think it has only failed me once or twice and I have had CH since I was 18 and I am 45 now. I do not know if it would trigger one as I usually save it for when I have the headaches. Again, my poor boyfriend!!
We stumbled upon this remedy quite by accident but since then it has been the only way I keep my sanity through these beasts. It is not fun really, purely medicinal, but I will do whatever it takes to make the pain go away. I told my neuro about this and he said it is due to several things, change in blood pressure, release of endorphins, etc. He also thought that it was much easier for me being female. I was his only female paient out of 98 patients and he was very intriguied and interested in this abortive method but it is not something I tell everyone about. Love this site, it has helped me so much through the years. I was elated to see this post! |
