Title: Really Bad Night (not ch) Post by midwestbeth on Jul 24th, 2008 at 11:33pm
My dog Skipper died tonight. :'(
He was 14 years old and still acted like a puppy. People did not believe me when I told them how old he was because of the way he ran around with all the other dogs. Unfortuately, his eyesight and hearing was not as good and he still liked to chase cars down the driveway. He got too close and was ran over. It was horrible......hysterical teenage girls, a futile drive to the animal hospital.....it was too late, there was nothing that could be done. We brought him back home and buried him next to the barn. :'( :'( :'( |

Thank you everyone for your kind words. Our pets do become part of the family. The girls cannot remember Skipper not being part of their lives. He was a good dog and lived a good life.

My Darling Beth;
Losing a pet to death is know small matter. They will always be in your heart. Your pet is a family member, companion, and the love of your life. Just thinking about the pet you lost can bring you to tears. My Princess Marie, was also 14 when she died.. There's a great sight that you can go to called: "Rainbow Bridge." I'll keep you and family in my thoughts and Prayers... Peace & Blessings LadyLuv |

Beth:
As everyone has said here, I am so sorry for your loss. I believe your dog is in heaven running around, playing and happy. Hold on to that. I have two cats and a dog (all my babies) and cannot imagine what you are going through right now but trust that your dog is in a happy place and hiding bones in a cloud! Julie |

Beth, I am so sorry to hear about your dog!! Our lab is 14 as well, and he's still so happy, in spite of the burdens old age has placed on him. I know what you mean when people say there's no way the dog can be that old. They are always young at heart. Losing a pet is just as bad as losing a family member, in my opinion. They are such wonderful additions to our lives, and it is never the same without them. As sailpappy said, only time can heal this wound. I agree that your dog is running around in Heaven, and waiting patiently (since when are dogs patient? hehe) for the day when you are all reunited. Hang in there. You are in my prayers! Love and hugz, Carrie |

I'm so sorry. It's never eashy losing a member of the family.
carolyn Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown... |
