Almost 18 years.  She is mine. I am hers. She cared for me, she loved me like no other.

Charlotte, thank you for trotting up to me that day, looking at me with those big beautiful brown eyes and telling me you were waiting for me.

Thank you for helping me raise "our" kids, playing so gently with Harry and running just a few steps ahead of him and looking over your shoulder to see if he was still coming, thn plopping down to let him "catch' you.  Thank you for running and jumping with Hannah and playing ball with her and frisbee and then letting her tackle you.

Thank you for thinking you were one of the kids, and wanting me to pick you up and carry you just like the other kids, and for snuggling with me on the floor when I cried and hurt and you didn't know anything more than Mommy hurts and i am taking care of her.

Thank you for laying in the garden, and spending time with me while I weeded and tended and we talked and you lovede the smell of the tomato plants.

Thank you for forgiving me the day I walked out of the house and you were so upset because you sensed something terrible was happening.

Thank you for accepting our new life in our new home,and still protecting me and the kids from that new guy, and nipping at his heal and lettinghim know we were and always would be "yours".

Thank you for ratting on me when you knew I was sick, even though I still wouldnt know for a few days, and making Darryl tell me to take my vitamins cuz Charlotte says you're sick.

Thank you for playing with me still, even when you really couldnt and fake biting me and waggign your silly fluffball tail and letting me know that each moment was precious to you.

Thank you for being my sweet Charlotte. For all the joy we shared, heartaches we endured, my protector, my confidante, my silly way too smart girl.  I love you.

Its time to say goodbye.

oh My Jenn I am so sorry hun!  I hate to see my friends hurting!  

But I am sure you know that even though you may need to say goodbye to Charlotte,  she isnt leaving you for good because she will always be living still in your heart and wonderful memories.

You know she'll be waiting for you Jen, just out if sight, around the corner. Lying in the sun by the tomato plants and waiting for you to comme and weed with her.

She'll be right there wagging her tail and smiling at you every time you shut your eyes and think of her too.

I was so fortunate to meet her a few weeks ago. She was at peace and ready. She was devoted to her family, even in the last days barking at any possible intruders yet a real gentle baby to all of us, lapping up the affection we all shared with her.
I am so very sorry for your loss and hope the pain is replaced with wonderful memories.

I am SO sorry you are going through this.  It was fairly obvious, when we were at your house, for the BBQ, that this dog was not in good condition.  It was also very obvious to how much she was loved by all of you.

Remember, she will be there, on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge, waiting for you.

Jen, I am so sorry. Our pets are part of our lives, they become our lives. What a beautiful dog, she reminds me of my golden, who went to doggie heaven a few years ago. I still miss my doggies.  :'(

Thank you all. I am heartsick.  

She wwas calm the whole time, the drive there, and in the office, and I told her it was time to go night-night. And she relaxed and let me know that "its OK Mommy" My sis gave us a tomato plant branch and she wagged her tail at the scent. She breathd her favorite place on earth as she left cradled in my arms.

We brought her home and Hannah and I together buried her where the garden used to be.

Jenn that was such a beautiful tribute to Charlotte. I'm sure you brought her as much joy and love as she brought you. There is just no reward for such grief we endure when we lose such a beloved family member.

Oh my...what a beautiful tribute. I am sad and happy at the same time.

Our furry/feathered friends are not LIKE family, they ARE family. I'm remembering mine right now, and mourning yours.

Sad that Charlotte (what an elegant name) is gone, happy for the joy you all enjoyed together...
