Has anyone had Laparoscopy surgery to correct acid reflux? If so how successful was it?

Yup, but it can be more severe when the meds don't work too well and surgery can correct it.

Acid reflux and the antacids used to treat it were the root cause of my Dads death. Don't take it lightly.

Charlotte,

I haven't personally had it, but have worked with babies who have had it.  For them, it has been mostly effective for the ones I have seen (though always combined with g-tube), but we have had some that appear to be just as bad off as they were before.  I was going to consider it when consulting with my GI doc (Not even thinking about one more surgery right now!), but then we found relief with the mix of zegerid, zantac, and domperidone.  As Matt says - the drugs to treat the reflux and the reflux itself are both their own can of worms....

I have really only ever heard mixed results on the surgery.  It can help, but it doesn't always work...  Wish it were better odds than that!

Hugz,
Carrie :)
