Title: Things I didn't know was in my own back yard
Post by mummymac on Aug 19th, 2008 at 4:04pm
I am ashamed to say day two of my holiday finds me seeing parts of Jersey I didn't know exsited, I was shocked that I and others that I know just do not get of the beated track enough if it envolves effort.

This was up a rather steep hill, a bit of a scramble and a gasp for air at the top

On the map it is listed as a site of Antiquity, I love that and I also didn't know we have at least fourteen of these dolmans , as well as numurous standing stones

Very cool era, one of the reasons I want to visit the Isles.

Ooooh Tanya - I love places like that with standing stones, they're fascinating. I wouldn't like to estimate how many times I've been to Stonehenge, Avebury and other places like that.

I even have a book called Mystical Britain which I love (and is my guide book for when Pegg or Cat eventually come to stay!) I'm fascinated by ley lines and stuff like that too, it's a lot of fun to read about.

Now I have to add a trip to Jersey to my expeditions to see the dolmans. There is nothing that makes you really feel your heritage by standing in such old and wonderful places - thank you so much for posting this!

love
Helen

As Jersey is only 9 miles by 5 miles I am always amazed by how much of it I haven't seen,.

Islanders  know the best beaches  depending on the winds and high/low tides, also the best pubs and restaraunts but point us inland and we all get lost  :D

Hardly surprising Helen with your curious Hogwarts-like background. Tell us more about your missing relatives..... START PRINTPAGEMultimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or RegisterEND PRINTPAGE
