That is BB (short for bitchy baby) and she is a Snowshoe Siamese and she's Jimbo's owner ;D. We also have her full sister, Callie (who is a callico), and both her half-brothers, Graybaby and Littleboy (who is also a snowshoe siamese). |

I never heard of this for real. How does it occur? Are they a big patch that grows and people pick them all excpet the ones in a ring? If not that is pretty wild...

I haven't seen a fairy ring in years, i can't tell you how much it means to see one via your pictures today. I really, really needed a boost today and I should have known, no matter what, as usual you can lift me Carolyn

Look in the front yard Helen. There is often one out there and there may be the remnants of one. -P. |

The ring is from a single plant (fungus) The fungus grows outward in the ground from a common point. As the fungus gets larger and when conditions of nutrients and water are right the fungus goes into a reproductive phase and sprouts mushrooms at the perimiter of the plant. You often notice that the grass is quite lush where the shrooms pop up and this is because the fungus is decomposing the organic material in the soil and freeing nutrients locked in the organig material. -P. |

That is so cool! I love learning new stuff like this that I can use to alienate my know-it-all self from the rest of society!

I prefere to think of them as magic and imagen the little people dancing there in the moonlight, don't get caugth trying to peek at them though, they don't like that.
Great photos Carolyn ;) |
