Title: Info for George about shooting... Post by LeLimey on Sep 2nd, 2008 at 7:49pm
George since you commented on my learning to shoot I thought I'd give you a little more info - just why do you want to sleep anyhow?! Paul doesn't anymore.. but I digress.
I was using a Glock 9mm and Pauls dad was teaching me, he is a gun enthusiast and likes to go to the range as often as he can. Anyway, he had a meter thingymajig (yes that is the bleedin' proper name!) and "measured" how fast I pulled the trigger after it "beeped" First go was 0.27 seconds and when Paul stops with the nervous tic he can confirm it! So there you have it. I'm well and truly armed now aren't I?! Goaties pig sticker, Jimbo's wooden wanker walloper, Jonny's enormous ball and my pretty little glock.. Just out of curiosity - what is the world record for sleeping with one eye open anyhow?? |

Just remember that it's not what you shoot at, it's what is behind the target you need to worry about! You dont need any extra holes in the structure.
Rolo ;D |

Don't worry Rolo - the plaster is safe. I'll keep drawing targets on Paul so I don't have to aim at the walls. See? I'm not THAT silly now am I?! |

I'm guessing it was the model 19--that's a bit more comfortable for smaller hands.
Never had one, but I liked the ones I handled. Very reliable and user-friendly. If I hadn't been so hung up on the .45 ACP, I might have purchased one just to have around. Tried a model 17 once, ran a couple magazines through a model 19 at the range, and took a model 18 around the ISP combat course once or twice. That fat-gripped model 18 would take bit of getting used to, IMO. The Glock is a very fine weapon. Just remember--as you pursue your new-found avocation, I'll be right behind you. Way behind you. ;) Best, George |

I have had a lot of different revolvers and automatics throughout my career, but the last 5 years we got a Glock 40. I fired over 1,000 rounds on the range with it and NEVER had a misfire. It will fire upside down, under water, or dirty. Very little kick and very sweet. You picked a good one. Pat and I looked at one at Uncle Lee's while the Brew clan was here. They are not cheap though.
