Don't download the Google Chrome browser, it's not worth the effort.
Maybe for IE users it could be a small step forward. What I resent most is that you have no choice where to store it. You can't find the cache, but it is some where on the system partition. I find it an extremely bad idea to store rapidly changing and transient data on the system partition. If you don't defrag every day your system will slow down as if it was running on treacle. (That's the same reason I don't use Firefox). Even IE lets you easily move the browser cache to a partition dedicated as scratch pad. That Google doesn't expect Opera users to downgrade to Chrome is indicated by the fact that there is no feature to import Opera bookmarks (and other settings) to Chrome..... Another afternoon wasted :( [smiley=smokin.gif] |

Thank you, U-Man. I read about chrome in the paper today and was wondering if it would be better than the Opera browser you turned me onto. Looks like I will stick with Opera!
Thanks man, for the update! :) |

Another good reason not to use Chrome is in their license agreement (EULA). You give all your copyrights away. Even if they belong to someone else and you have no right to do so.
"11.1 You retain copyright and any other rights that you already hold in Content that you submit, post or display on or through the Services. By submitting, posting or displaying the content, you give Google a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free and non-exclusive licence to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any Content that you submit, post or display on or through the Services. This licence is for the sole purpose of enabling Google to display, distribute and promote the Services and may be revoked for certain Services as defined in the Additional Terms of those Services." Which means that if you use Chrome to post something to your work site, and Google decides to do something with it. You have givin them the right to do so. And in another paragrapth they have a get out of jail free card. "11.4 You confirm and warrant to Google that you have all the rights, power and authority necessary to grant the above licence." And your fan has a dark brown substance on it. That means anything you post HERE. Text, pictures, anything. And you use Chrome for your browser, Google owns it. Nice guys huh. Thats as draconian as the EULA for MSN, Hotmail and MySpace. [smiley=smokin.gif] |

Which again supports my decision to distrust Google!

I tired it (curiousity :P) but it didn't impress me. Maybe I will use it (when it's finished) in places like school, but I am used to my FireFox and I don't think I need anything else (also, I don't think Chrome is very innovative).
What I've noticed - some sites load a lot faster (than with Fx/Opera) but I don't care bout it that much, as I have pretty fast connection. |
