Title: In need of a brain... Help needed..
Post by BarbaraD on Sep 4th, 2008 at 10:37am
Does anyone remember how the Wizard of Oz produced a brain?

My "idiot" son is having his 40th birthday and I thought that a "brain" would be a nice present for him, but can't remember what the Wizard came up with. Need help with this one...

All help appreciated...

Hugs BD

Out of bran and pins and needles, to make him sharp.

I've just been racking my brain for something to give the little brat that will make a "lasting" impression on him.

Last weekend he came up to the farm with a "brand new" automatic deer feeder. The thing holds 200 pounds of corn and automatically dispenses it at set times. Sounds nice right? Well the little darling set it up on a hill within sight of the back porch (no need to have a deer stand when you can sit on the back porch and shoot a deer - good thinking - right?). Only one problem..... He put it under a nice tree where a bunch of crows were nested!!!!  WE NOW HAVE THE FATEST CROWS IN CASS COUNTY!!!!!!!

Now you KNOW THE REST OF THE STORY!

Hey Barb,

I believe the scare crow got a diploma in lieu of a brain.

Sorry this one needs to be earned but I’m sure you can print out a fake one.

What you really need is that learning machine from Star Trek, but as I remember McCoy’s memory started to fade before he could finish reconnecting Spock’s brain.

It may however be enough time for him to read the diploma.

Cheers,

Roland. ;)

Edit to add; Or if all else fails, just do what Red would do in that 70's show!

Oooh you're perfect, Barb.  Ok but, your line goes like this though:

"I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too!

now I've dug deep, been reading too many of Chuck's posts

RUN TOTO RUN!!!!!!

Pythagorean Theorem, a usual wording:

The square of the hypotenuse of a right triangle is equal to the sum of the squares on the other two sides.

from wiki

Cultural references to the Pythagorean theorem

In The Wizard of Oz, when the Scarecrow receives his diploma from the Wizard, he immediately exhibits his "knowledge" by reciting a mangled and incorrect version of the theorem: "The sum of the square roots of any two sides of an isosceles triangle is equal to the square root of the remaining side. Oh, joy, oh, rapture. I've got a brain!" The "knowledge" exhibited by the Scarecrow is incorrect. The accurate statement would have been "The sum of the squares of the legs of a right triangle is equal to the square of the remaining side."

goofy guy   :)

YUP!  Logical that Barb would need help with locating a brain ... seeing as she has NO experience in using one ...

Give your son a gift certificate for Chucks brain.

I'm certain he doesn't use it anymore.

I didn't say that.  It was my evil twin

"I have come for my brains," remarked the Scarecrow, a little uneasily.

"Oh, yes; sit down in that chair, please," replied Oz. "You must excuse me for taking your head off, but I shall have to do it in order to put your brains in their proper place."

"That's all right," said the Scarecrow. "You are quite welcome to take my head off, as long as it will be a better one when you put it on again."

So the Wizard unfastened his head and emptied out the straw. Then he entered the back room and took up a measure of bran, which he mixed with a great many pins and needles. Having shaken them together thoroughly, he filled the top of the Scarecrow's head with the mixture and stuffed the rest of the space with straw, to hold it in place.

When he had fastened the Scarecrow's head on his body again he said to him, "Hereafter you will be a great man, for I have given you a lot of bran-new brains."

The Scarecrow was both pleased and proud at the fulfillment of his greatest wish, and having thanked Oz warmly he went back to his friends.

Some scenarios:

1. My evil twin really took over my best instincts.

2. On the same theme of:  If a tree falls in the forest and no-one is there to hear it, does it really make a sound?"   If I delete that post, does it count?  (NO...someone, not to mention names) copied and pasted)

 3. It has been since July 14th. and I have been good.  Time served?

  4.  I could ask DJ to delete this entire thread before Chuck has a chance to see it?

O.k. work with me people....Must I start from scratch?

O.K.   sigh........one year from today.  Sept. 04, 2008

Chuck.

I apologize.  The devil in me said that, not the rational wonderful person in me.  Your gift to me at the convention was way beyond the call of duty to a friend and my appreciation for your generosity made me cry.  it really did.

From now on if I even see your name mentioned I will not open...I will not reply.  You just make it way to easy for me to bring out that devil in me when I truly don't want to.

BTW....I guess you never saw what I said on your latest thread about the beast being friendly:

Quote:
the beast has been doing something that could be considered to be rather considerate, and even friendly!

If anyone deserves a break...even a small one, it's you Chuck.

can I be forgiven now?
