Title: Totally NON-ch question ... Post by ClusterChuck on Sep 5th, 2008 at 12:17am
Laundry night ... UGGG! I hate it!
BUT, as I was folding the new jersey sheets that I bought (I think I am really going to like them!) I got to thinking, "Well at least I don't have to iron them, as I had to do, as a kid!" Does ANYONE iron sheets anymore? And how about that monstrous (and VERY dangerous) mangle that we use to use? Do they even make those monsters anymore? I LOVE wash and wear!!! Chuck |

If you've gotta iron it, I don't want it.
I suppose we've got an iron around here somewhere, but I'm not acquainted with it. And yes...I do the laundry. Best, George |

My wife talked me into 400 count sheets for the bed, if you don't iron the pillow cases, you wake up looking like you slept on corduroy. ;D
Guiseppi (Who also does the laundry!) |

I don't do the laundry.
The last time I tackled an iron it took me a full bottle of scotch to work the damn thing out. |

It says "Wash and Wear" -- I'm a trusting person - I believe what it says!
My iron collects cobwebs - I sprinkle glitter on it at Christmas and use it for a decoration. :-* Hugs BD |

LMAO.....I remember mangles. My Grandmother used one on all flat work.
I don't iron sheets but do iron pillow cases....linen tablecloth and napkins too. Guess I'm part of a dying breed. I still iron shirts (use spray sizing and/or light starch too) and jeans....even give the knits a quick 'once over'. Chuck...have you tried the bamboo sheets? I love them. Old school Jacks 8-) |

I do the laundry, but Brew folds and puts away (the most evil part, imo).
His dress shirts go to the cleaners to be laundered and ironed and starched. You won't find me doing it! Iron sheets? Why would I iron something I'm going to sleep in? The only thing I iron is a few of my own cotton dress shirts. And those of you who know me know I don't dress up very often. ;) |

No ironing here either. I sleep on nothing but Satine sheets. The stuff is awesome...

Okay, I'll chime in! I iron everything BUT the sheets. I even ironed baby clothes. I have this really great cordless iron made by Oreck. I love it. I guess I'm old school too (but not that old ;))
What is a mangle? Jeannie |

I USED to iron when my son was little...
One morning I had MS PERFECT over for coffee... He came running in yelling, "Mom, I need my jeans ironed!" I looked at them and calmly told him, "They are ironed!" He looked a little puzzeled and said right back, "No they're NOT - the zipper is cold!" That was when HE learned HOW to iron his OWN damn clothes or wear them wrinkled! One more Labor Saving Device learned in my youth! Hugs BD |

Ironing? Only shirts and only the parts not covered by the waistcoat.
Yes, I'm lazy. |

I iron everything but pants and socks. And yes, that includes the duvet cover and pillowcases. I don't iron the fitted sheets though.
I tend to set up the board on a Sunday evening in front of Desperate Housewives and iron away. It's not too bad a job. I'll take that over dishes any day of the week!! |

I still wanna know what a mangle is!
Jeannie Never mind..... I Googled it. Glad I don't have to use one of those. I'd seen one before but didn't know what it was called. |

LMAO BD!!!! i grew up with my mom using a Mangle AKA Wringer...........I can still remember it snapping every time she tried to wring out one of those throw rugs!!!! And my dear "grammie" used one up until she died 14 years ago in her 80's, even tho she had an automatic washer!! When i was first married, 27 yrs ago, I thought since my mother ironed everything, so would I!! u name it i ironed it, on the 3rd floor of our apartment, even in the summer with no AC!!!!!!!!!!!!! Little by little, i ironed less and less, i can know say i iron very little!!!

LOL>.Satin sheets slide off the bed, along with the inhabitants.....makes for a loss of sleep........
I used to iron the pillowcases.tablecloths and napkins go to the cleaners, so that leaves pants and some shirt touch-up. I don't mind ironing.a little! I found we like the 650-800 threadcount egyptian cotton sheets. The feel like satin, do nicely going from dryer to bed, and they last forever!! If I could have ONE wish from a Genie.just for me, I would LOVE to climb into freshly laundered bedsheets every night of my life!!! But, that's just me.......Cathi |

I'm still trying to get over the Post Traumatic Stress from having to iron a household's laundry as chore when I was a kid...and I mean, my mother wanted everything ironed...like towels...what the???
I have shared my plight with Gordon and he is very compassionate - and besides the cleaners is walking distance from our house. I have an iron somewhere collecting dust as it should be. :) Langa |

I am going to show my age but what are "jersey sheets"? Sounds like sheets that have really bad stains on them from Jon Bon Jovi sleeping in them.
Jonno - I hope by "some" you mean "good" my man! |

1200 count sheets is what my wife buys. Before I met her I didn't know they even counted the threads. I thought sheets came with the trailer.

Iron? Isn't that a mineral that we're all supposed to have in our bodies for good health? ;)
Iron? As in a hot triangular contraption that you press down on material to make it smooth? When I got married, my husband wore 100% cotton button down collar dress shirts, starch in collar cuff and down the buttons. As a bachelor, he took his clothes to the dry cleaner. As a husband, he expected me to do it. One teensy broken thread in that dress shirt - ripped to rags - bought him wash and wear. His cotton dress shirts lasted less than 30 days after our wedding - and he owned 30 of them ::) Puleeeze! Not me. Wash & wear ROCKS ;D Sandy |
