Folks,

Our twins are in danger.  Jen's is in the hospital with major contractions and her cervix is funneling.  This is exactly how we lost our twins last time.  She is only at 21 weeks, exactly where we lost them the first time.  

I am very scared.

Prayers are on their way!

As soon as I read your post I prayed for Jen and those babies.  May God place your family in the palm of His hand, hold you and comfort you.  I pray that His healing touch will keep those babies in the safety of their mother's womb where they can grow and become strong.   And that they, in the right time, will  be in your arms.

Thank you, everyone.  I do appreciate the prayers.  They have her on terbutaline and something else.  This is the same thing we went through last time.  These babies need more time.  I don't think I can deal with losing them again.  This is hard... I know I can't change anything, not even the agnozingly slow pace that this plays out.

Update....  Jen is home now on strict bed rest.  Her cervix has shortened to about 2cm (not great) and is funneling about 1/4 of that.  She has been violently throwing up for the entire weekend, and the resulting bearing down on the babies isn't helping at all.  They have put her on Indocin for the contractions and Zofram (sp?) for the throwing up.  They also have her on antibiotics because they think she may have a sinus infection which would explain the nasea and the contractions.

I have been a wreck, and my lovely friend we call the Beast has not missed a beat this weekend at all.  I feel really stupid trying to be the calming force for my wife when the beast is beating me down.

All of the prayers are appreciated, and I know our two little boys are still alive right now.  They only need a few more weeks before we have about a 50/50 chance of survival outside the womb.  I can't imagine what our lives would look like if we fail at this again after having gotten this far.  But, life has never been predictable or fair.  Sometimes I wonder why it has to be like this.  Then I remember, without this kind of perspective, nothing good in my life has any meaning.  I thank God for the trials and tribulations, and I know I am a lucky man, because WHEN they are born I will celebrate with the full realization of how truly special they are.

I tried to post right before you, but the system had a glitch, so it didn't go through. That said, I am relieved, for now, that Jen is home, just wish she were resting comfortably rather than sick with the flu or something!
Your little family is constantly on my mind. I watch this thread, hoping for some good news.and I'll take, and be grateful, that for now, babies are holding on and growing. I'll continue this all the time it takes till they can be safely delivered.

Okay, we have to come up with some kind of co-op CH sharing program where we can take the hits for others during times like this.  Ya know, if I could take your pain now, Shawn I would.  You surely have enough on your plate right now without having to deal with the Beast.

We all feel so helpless knowing that all we can do is to send our good thoughts, well wishes and prayers but please know that we have you, your wife and the babies in our thoughts day and night.

Just wondering...have the docs mentioned about doing a cervical cerclage?

Sending all the love, hope, determination and healing wishes that I can muster.

Jen had the cervical cerclage put in 4 weeks ago.  We are hoping this will make the difference.  Last time, the specialist said we should, but the OB said he didn't see any good reason to do it.  Obviously, there are bad feelings about the way that turned out.

Jen is sounding much happier today, and the vomiting seems to be over.  She is still on indocin, which is hard on the stomach (as are the antibiotics), but all in all I think things are improving.  I'm back on the road in San Jose going out of my mind like normal.

Please tell Jen to try to keep her spirits up.  It is hard to be on bed rest and to feel so ill and worried.  Please pass on to her that, though we have never met, we are all praying and thinking of you all!  I'm so happy to hear that she is feeling some better.  As Donna said, each day that brings hope!

Shawn, Jimmers just posted a happy 9th Birthday to his son Christopher today who was 1 pound 9 ounces at birth.   Your babies can do this too...I just know it!!!

 A couple of more weeks babies...hang on.  Put a T.V. in her bedroom, give her plenty of good books to read, calming music to listen to, and plenty of comfort foods.

Saying another prayer for the beast to lose your address at least until after those babies are out of danger.

We're still in the game... things have been very uncomfortable and scary, but we still have two little hell raisers in the oven.  We are at 22 weeks now... 6 more weeks to go until we can breath easier.  Jen is bordering on miserable, and when I'm home it gets worse.  So, we just take it one day at a time, and I try to pretend I don't have The Beast ripping my sanity from me everyday.  I could use a break from clusters so I could focus on Jen, but she is a good sport.

If anything bad happens, I'll post, but since I'm trying not to focus on worrying all the time, I don't check this thread everyday.  That's doesn't mean I don't appreciate the prayers and vibes, I REALLY DO.  I just get frazzled around the edges if this is the only thing I think about all day (like I have a choice)

I'm glad the babies are still hanging on in there and things are continuing to move along.  Each day is just one day closer.  I know you know that I'm a neonatal nurse and I work in the highest level of NICUs.  If there is ANYTHING I can do - questions I can answer - anything - now or even especially when they do make an appearance (hopefully not for a VERY long time yet!!!), PLEASE let me know.  I know they're twins, but if they can hang on to 24 weeks even, that would be something!  The longer the better!!!!  I know the NICU team has probably already scared the crap out of you both, but nobody can predict what will happen - they've just gotta stay in longer.  That's their only job right now!  The rest will come later...

I'm praying around the clock for you and your family!!  Just let me know if there is anything at all I can do.

Hang in there and PF wishes - tell the beast to STFU!!!
