I am so depressed...  :(  17-0 last season to what... 5-10 this year?  Matt Castle?  Are you kidding me?  WFT?

The team rallied today (NE 17, KC 10).  Next week in NY against the JETS we'll see how they really deal with adversity.

Glad I didn't spring for the NFL package...

Hey Dennis....I've been through enough Donvan McNabb and Randall Cunningham injuries down here.  Do you expect anyone to feel sorry for you and all of your Superbowl vistories ;)  Philadelphia (all 4 teams) is now over 100 seasons without a title.  Now thats depressing.

But how about those Birds?  McNabb looking good today without the their top 2 receivers.  Pats will still make the playoffs

Kev - You stole my thoughts! hehe

Dennis - I really hate to see anyone injured, and I cringed today when they showed the play that knocked Brady out.  I haven't been watching or checking the sports news to see what the final word was, so can't confirm or deny the report of his being out for the season.  I do feel badly for Brady for being injured.

But that being said, I truly can't stand him!  I don't wish him injured, but I won't be devastated if he can't return for the season!  (Sorry if that sounds cruel....but after being a Philly fan for years, you just really really REALLY want a championship at some point!!)  Now...if we can just knock T.O. out of the picture, I'd be happier than a pig in mud.  Did you see the penalty he got today for his little celebration?  AH I wish I could punch his lights out! haha

Truly hoping that Brady recovers smoothly - as a human being.

But as a Philly fan..........Go Eagles! Go Phillies!

Goodnight!
Carrie :)

Thats pretty nice for a Philly fan.  Didnt they boo Santa?

I was really upset too about Brady until I remembered Brady's first season and that Cassell (not Castle) has many more weapons and a much better OL in front of him.

Also, the Pats have the easiest schedule in the NFL and the weakest division.  I still think the Pats make the playoffs, but without Brady probably dont go far although SD and Indy looked pretty bad today WITH no injuries.

I hope the Flyers win you a cup or 2.  Im not a huge hockey fan, but I feel for Philly fans (I am a Red Sox fan, I understand).

The word is ACL tear but it wont be confirmed until tomorrow (MRI).

Chris Simms is already scheduled for a FA visit tomorrow.

I can say, as someone who has both knees reconstructed from ACL and MLC tears from football, that I feel bad for Tom as a human being. He will be depressed for quite awhile and probably will end up like Kurt Warner.

That being said, I'm with Carrie.

As a football fan who is a sick and tired of Tom Brady and the God comparisons, I am glad something happened to bring this back down to earth. I think Brady is very over-rated as the Pats have had a very well rounded and very good team for years. Lots of QB would look stellar on that team.

Not saying he sucks or anything, TB fans don't get your panties in a wad.

I do feel sadder for Dennis though. It will be a long season when your favorite teams franch player goes down for the season in game one.

Dennis if I were local I'd take you out for a good ole Sam Adams and some crab cakes.

And yes the Eagles looked like they mean business this year (Westbrook on my FF team) and I hate to say it but the Cowboys may be a run-a-way train this year.

I am still waiting for the Pack to stink the joint up tonight........

God, I love football.  Up until "Spygate," I thought it was fool proof.  Now the NFL is trying to bury the truth and I have to wonder if this is not just another way to sweep it under the rug, or maybe it is just Karma.  Either way, I personally won't miss him.

Tearing an ACL to help sweep Spy-Gate under the rug?  Are you nuts?

I'm amazed at the animosity towards a quarterback and an organization that has been nothing but successful in the salary cap era.  Sounds like a whole lot of sour grapes to me.

You want to direct anger at anyone; Belichick specifically is your guy.  His biggest problem is arrogance.  He never thought the league would come down on him.  $500K and a 1st round pick proved him wrong.  Anyone thinks that didn’t hurt the team is kidding themselves.  Move on folks!

Brady can't help the “God comparisons” in the media.  I'm not interested in his kid troubles or which supermodel he’s dating this week, just his talent.

IMO, Matt Cassell is no Tom Brady. We’ll find out the answer to the system or the man question in the coming weeks.

Phily fans ... what can I say?  I'm a Red Sox fan too so you don't have to tell me about having to wait for a championship.  The Patriot Sullivan years were pretty tough around here too.  No one seems to remember that.

I do not wish Brady any ills.  I am just curious if the injury is real or not.  You know Belicheat as well as anyone, he has made things out to be worse than they really are in the past.  And plain and simple, you can not trust the guy.  The NFL does not want to expose how bad 'Spygate" really was, maybe it is some sort of "back room punishment," it is really just a thought.  And of course they were successful, any team that has been video taping the calls of their opponents for so long should be.  It is called cheating.  And it was not just Belicheat, It was the team as a whole.  All of Brady's success is now suspect.  Of course, you are going to make all the great plays if you know where the defense is going to be.  Not only is the Dynasty dead, it turns out it was a farce the whole time.  You can call it sour grapes, and you might be right, but the whole thing stinks.  The Patriots are not the only ones being punished here either, I feel bad for you as a fan and any fans of the entire NFL, now that the game has been tarnished.

Actually, the only team that has ever gone 17-0, were Shula's Dolphins.  If you are refering to the Pat's perfect season it would be 16-0, or with the playoffs 18-1.

Bingo. Give that man a ceegar.

The Packers went 13-3, on the fast track to the Superbowl, Golden Boy throws an interception that leads to the game-winning field goal, and now he's wearing a different shade of green.

Am I bitching about how they'll be somewhere between 6-10 and 10-6 this year? No way. Last year was a helluva ride. Now we've got something new to deal with. No big whoop. It's the way of the world.

Personally I see 7 wins.

Its a good sign when everyone hates your team.  Same reason I hate the Yankees and Ohio State.  They are just too dam good all the time!

1.  Those who express any joy/contentment/or any positive feelings when a player goes down with an injury have no class.  I'm sorry.

Brady has never touted himself, hes always been a hard worker and a model teammate.  Sick and tired of Tom Brady is God comparisons?  blame ESPN!   ESPN are the ones along with the NFL who do that.  Patriot fans love him because he has won rings, should we hate him?  However, Patriot fans love ALL  the players.

I never minded people bashing Brady, but acting happy because he is hurt is just poor sportsmanship and the sign of people who dont love the game, they just root for a team.  I hate Peyton but I have always been more happy seeing him standing on the field watching an INT go for 6 than seeing him hit for a sack.  Beating the great players and your rivals is what sports is about, not winning because they are hurt.

2.  Spygate is a joke.  Coaches were seen waving  to the cameras.  there was film of the cameraman in plain view.  The Patriots were NOT using it during games.  Ask former coaches who arent returning tot he NFl, they all laughed it off.  Why do you all think they have multiple callers and armbands.

3.  The Patriots will make the playoffs.  they have a weak schedule and their division is horrible.  The Pats will lose at least 5 games now, but chances are they stillmake the playoffs (Indy and SD lost with everyone healthy).  At least 5 teams have made the Super Bowl with a backup QB (including the Patriots with Brady)

Stay Classy San Diego!

Ah, the delusional Pats fan.   I was wondering how long it would take for the classic "classy" argument to start.  So, I guess now I should say something like leave it to a Pats fan to conduct a lesson on class...  And, good one with the "Stay Classy San Diego" jab that was cleaver.  As far as wanting to see any player suffer an injury, this is simply not the case, but this is football.  They get paid to take the risk, so, NO, I do not feel bad for the guy.  I am actually a little disappointed that I do not get to see the Charger D get a chance to ring his bell.  Yes, I said it, ring his bell, hurt him, But NO not to cause him so much harm as to knock him out of the game or end his season for that matter.  It is the same reason people watch boxing, it is a violent sport and part of the game.  And, Sacking the QB is part of the game.  You make it sound like your not really a football fan, "I would rather watch Peyton be safe with an INT than Knocked down and get his uniform dirty."  This is football, Man Up Dude!!!  When you watch boxing do you say I like to watch them box, I just don't like to see them hit each other...?

2.  Spygate is a joke?  Pretty costly joke...  You can spin it however you want, and I understand.  It is hard to except that your team finally started accomplishing something, then to find out they were cheating the entire time.  Look at it this way, maybe the Pats should have picked a fresh back up for Brady with the first round pick. Oh wait!  they did not have one did they?  Pretty funny Joke....

3.  And this is how you root for your team?  'They suck now but so does everyone else and they have a weak schedule.  So, if we are lucky we will make the playoffs.' [smiley=bag.gif]

Either way looking forward to October 12,  Who knows, maybe Belicheat will pull a rabbit out of his arse...

1. I don't watch boxing, so no I dont say that. I am a TRUE fan of football because I like to see my team's best players beat their teams best players. People who want their players to take people out arent football fans, they are fans of violence and should go watch an NHL best of hockey fights video.   As for me being a true football fan, Ill address it again in a later point.

2.  You obviously dont know much about football.  Do you know who the Patriots started next to Tedy at Inside LB?  Yes, that's right... the Patriots 1st round draft pick.  they did have one, they chose to wait until the 3rd round to select a backup QB.  so yes, they addressed backup QB in the draft AND they had a 1st.  Do some research before you call someone else out and then make ignorant statements.

Spygate was a joke because the NFL gave the Patriots a penalty WELL above the supposed crime.  Denver cheated to win a SB and lost only a 3rdround draft pick.  Also, the Pats really needed that camera... they went 18-0 (before the Super Bowl) without it.

3.  all I said was that the Patriots have the WEAKEST schedule in the NFL, which is a fact.  I am a true fan.  I believe a team is not made up of 1 player.  I am not saying we need to get luck y either.  try learning to read.

As for the SD game, if the Chargers lose, you all have no excuses like LT makes every time your boys lose to us.

Seriously, I wasn't trying to teach a lesson in class, so there is no reason for you to teach one in classlessness.

Shawne is gone for the season too.  That really sucks.  I was looking forward to seeing the SD defense in it's entirety vs the Patriots.

(This post was NOT sarcastic, I am very sad to see one of the best NFL players gone for the season)

I don't believe this sucks too bad.  Sure, he is gone for the season, but better one season than the rest of his career.  I admire the guts to go out and try to play, however, there were not many that agreed with that choice.  It is a good thing he reconsidered.

Fans come in all shapes and sizes, but they all accept that Football is a violent game, and, therefore, are all fans of violence to some degree.  I don't know what kind of football fan you are, but I am starting to believe it must involve flags or two hand touch...  And are you trying to imply I said I want people taking people out?  I thinkest you need to reread...

Oh yea, your right.  They did trade up for a  1st R pick.  At the same time there were only 31 picks in the fisrt round due to the penalty from cheating.  This pick could have been used to address a back up QB.  It is funny you think O'Connell...  hahaha  Come on man.  The guy is a SD local.  Sure he has size and speed and some good numbers but very inconsistant.  Also, you have consider that he played in the Mountain West.  I wish a local guy luck but I don't think he has addressed the needs of any NFL team.  I have seen plenty and I smell trade.  You'll see.

Well atleast now you are starting to admit they cheated, but you need to consider how long they used the camera.  It was not one season, it was the entire time Belicheat has been there.  How many seasons?  How many Super Bowls?  Looks like they got off cheap...

Okay TRUE football fan, tell me, how is the weakest schedule determined?  That is right, it is composed of numbers from last year.  So, how is this a fact for this season?  It's Not!!!  You have no idea what the rest of the league will do until it is all over this year.  So, I can only read that as you saying if the Pats are lucky the rest will suck and might make the playoffs.  Sure, you can count the Dolphins out for the most part but not to 1-15.  the Bills look good and who Knows what Brett could start in NY.  And the Wildcards look like they could be tight.  Honestly, I hope the Pats get lucky...

And another fresh 'classy' comeback.  You are in a class of your own with this wit of yours...

Cassel stayed within himself and didn't do anything to loose the game.  No turnovers is a very good thing.

Richard Seymore and the rest of the defense had a spectacular day and owned the Jets front line.

The best plays from the Jets were the broken ones where Farve made something out of nothing.

Ok, so far so good...  Two weeks, two wins...  I'll take it.

I hope the Jets fans get used to this:

That is the Favre syndrome. The players and coaches get used to that happening and everyone around him gets lazy, expecting him to be able to find a way to do it all.

So then he steps up and tries to do it all. And since football is a team sport, no one can do it all so it fails sometimes.

Then people say. "Favre takes too many risks, he shouldn't try to do it all by himself".

Mangeni's playcalling is downright feeble at times.
